Interesting logo. I thought that the bomb with the clock inside of it was a lot more in-line with the new aesthetic of the site, but I don't mind this one either.

Seems kind of fitting that the publisher of this game is called "Gaming Company". Wonder if they'll also be publishing that Enchanted Portals game.

This looks fun I played a lot of darkest dungeon but never finished.

Logo is a good concept but hard to read. Might be better with dark background light text.

It's shocking to me just how darkest dungeon this is. It's not just "gameplay-wise they're similar," it's more like any time they had to make a decision aesthetically, they just traced over what that game did. Like man, when characters attack each other their movement, the font and color of the damage numbers, the framing, it all may as well be just straight up lifted from that game. That game had a great look and feel, but something about taking that almost 1-1 just doesn't sit well with me?

That logo is burning white and hard to read.
As for the game it looks too RNG heavy for my tastes (like DD) but listening to
Waypoint talk about it recently, it seems later on it gets more interesting.

@unrealdp: Over the weekend, people definitely had opinions about Enchanted Portals for being a Cuphead clone. Surprised I haven't heard the same for this one.

@unrealdp: The way characters were brought to the foreground during attacks was an "EXCUSE ME??" moment.

@unrealdp: Don't have a chance to watch this right now, but just looking at that screenshot makes me think it's the same team because of the art. It's apparently not? Wow.

Whew these fights are long.

This could use narration like darkest dungeon, it's really quiet and felt it was missing something.

@muttonbandit: For real though, even the specific thing of like "you guys even picked almost the exact same tint for when you defocus the background during attacks." Inspiration is one thing, but this doesn't seem to have much identity beyond what it's taken from liberally. The aspects that aren't Darkest Dungeon exactly even seem to be the weakest.

I'm really surprised not to have heard more about how much this game "borrows," but at the same time I don't know that I've heard anything about this game outside of GB.

Not really a fan of that new Quick Looks logo on the thumbnail. Not only it looks way uglier than the previous one, but it doesn't even make sense. The faded lines show where it's possible for the lines to light up, but the Q and K have lines in places that don't exist on the base grid/layout of the faded lines.

Also, the old Bomb with the clock is just a much clever idea and fits the site way better.

So this entire time I thought this game was being made by the same dev who made Darkest Dungeon and so that's why so much of the gameplay was a lift from DD. But apparently it's not? And so this whole thing feels way, way grosser to me now.

I don't know... Between this and Mistover, I'm pretty shocked at how many people are taking pages from Darkest Dungeon's book. They could at least try to make it look or play differently..

@johnymyko: I agree, the name has always been 'Quick Look' not 'Quick Looks' maybe it's silly but that extra S bothers me. The lack of corporate branding was always a plus for me, I remember Jeff saying there would be no watermarks, now every video has an opaque logo in the corner which obviously for video games is where the HUD is.

Love the design of the new logo. Is there no room for a little colour?

I like the idea of a game around the Polish resistance, hoping they continue to work on it.

Regarding similarities to DD, if people are way into Nioh and don't see a major game studio ripping off Dark Souls as gross...

Interesting to see a game being released with this setting since there doesn't seem to be a lot of knowledge in the West about the Home Army or the Warsaw Uprising. Still fun to see.

As an aside I wrote my thesis in college on the Warsaw Uprising. Translating those memoirs is the only time I've ever cried reading historical sources.

I'm Polish and my name's Krzysztof, so this is neat.

While the execution isn't as tight as it could be, it's just nice to see my culture represented in a game. The handful of examples I could think of are that Polish tank mission in Call of Duty 3, and all the fantasy analogues in The Witcher.

It would've been cool to see this named Warszawa, but our names seem to be more confusing than most to folks in the West. For good reason, we love our Z's and fun marks on our alphabet!

For real though, It's way more readable when it's small. Problem is, the viewers also have to see it large if they are viewing on a monitor/TV and click to watch the video - and then it falls apart.

It could easily be made 2x4 times smaller and still be readable in the thumbnail though. Maybe that would save it?

It's a neat concept - and like Alex says, the devs explicitly stated that they were strongly influenced by Darkest Dungeon - but the Warsaw Uprising is (to me) a risky subject for a video game.

After all, the Warsaw Uprising ended badly and in tragedy for both the city and the citizens within.

@mrspoon: Pretty sure that's just a Youtube thing. Watching this in the GB player, I don't see any watermarks or logos.

This game is way too blatant a rip-off for me to support these devs. They weren't influenced by Darkest Dungeon, they wholesale lifted everything, the audio cues, the artstyle, animations, gameplay, there's barely an original thought presented here.

Setting aside the debate on "inspired by" or "ripping off," if this game proves nothing else, it's how intrinsic the Narrator is to adding to the enjoyment of a game like this (something Red Hook Games would attest to, I'm sure, with how exuberant they were about getting the voice actor).

Even little things like him chiming in with a sardonic "Watch your step." after you trigger a trap adds so much to the overall atmosphere that makes this game come off as dry and a little emotionally hollow.
