It's really amazing how similar MGS is to this game. And it holds up incredibly well for a game from 1990; I'm glad to see it get its moment to shine.

I don't think that's a colour temperature thing on Dan's camera; rather, it looks like the blue channel is low for some reason. That makes skin look weird and purple like that, and makes white look yellow.

Singing sand is a real thing. It's weird.

Really don't get the hate for the ending of Horizon ZD. Its completely in character for that guy to do what he does. I thought it was one of the better justifications for a sequel.

This is so much better than Metal Gear 1, wow. The swamp stuff is rough, but overall I'm liking this playthrough a lot more. You can really sense the MGS1 connection.

Good timing. Just yesterday I saw a video from the first one and wondered if they had actually done both MGS 1 and 2 already. Guess not!

Probably worth a mention: the Yoji Shinkawa-style character portraits were newly added for the modern ports of this game. The MSX2 originals were more realistic and also very blatantly based on popular actors. (Source is here, but it obviously has portraits of characters we haven't met yet.)

Hell yeah, this game rules. Seeing Dan go through the swamp was as hilarious as I'd hoped

When I was playing through the games chronologically, this is the one I watched a playthrough of because it was too hard for me to get through myself. I'm looking forward to watching this.

Edit: Knowing that Metal Gear Solid is basically a 3D remake of this game, Dan's constant "Hey, it's like that thing from Metal Gear Solid!" reminds me of him playing the Zelda randomizer. "Hey, this is all randomized!"

I think if you hold down the home button you get a different menu then the cross media bar. It's where you would switch controller ports or turn off the controller. The manual should be in that menu.

Perhaps I should not be shocked that they all were happy to see the inclusion of the radar that shows enemy locations at about 8 minutes in, and then promptly stopped looking at it until the 20 minute mark as a way to know where enemies are...

Not saying its a bad vacuum, but a vacuum with lots of plastic parts is not going to last for life. Even an industrial vacuum isn't going to last for life.

Fun fact time! One of my favourite words, since the whole world seems to have forgotten it, is "abstruse". That's what the Beasters were thinking of when calling something obscure or overly complicated. Obtuse, on the other hand, is what you'd use to call someone/something dull-witted or stupid.
