    Per game dollar valuation

There are so many games of such widely varying type and quality, I'm just going to assign a monetary value to each game I've played so far and see what I get.  I never had a Genesis nor have I purchased any of these games on VC or XBLA so there's no repurchase problems for me.

Alien Storm - $.50 Weird brawler, I've played several times attempting the acheivement.
Alex Kidd - $.25  Just seems bad, not even Genesis level graphics.  More like a bad NES game
Altered Beast, Altered Beast arcade $1 - Terrible game, arcade version slightly better. Will eventually suffer though it to see the end.  Does have some nostalgia value to me.
Congo Bongo - $1 Very nostalgic but it is a pretty harsh play.  Looks like the 1983 game that it is.
Columns - $2 Pretty fun, and I've played it co-op with wife.  Will play it again.
Decap Attack - $.50 There is a lot of good stuff in here but I think the basic platforming doesn't work.  Something is just not calibrated right.
Fatal Labyrinth - $2 Roguelike, great fun.  LIke Shiren the Wanderer but less harsh.  May be the only rpg I play.
Flicky - $.50 The graphics are simplistic but the game play feels good. I like this little game.
Golden Axe - $1 Some nostalgia value, but generally bad.  Better with co-op, but might as well play another brawler.
Golden Axe III - $2 Much better brawler, will play more, had fun playing co-op.
Golden Axe Warrior - $1 Pretty much a rip off of the original Zelda.
Ristar - $.50 I liked the art design, but the gameplay was weird.  I'll probably try this again.
Phantasy Star I,II,III,IV - $1 I loaded up all of these, but I just don't think I'll play them.
Streets of Rage I,II,II - $5  Very fun brawler, will play more, try the sequels, and attempt to play co-op.
Shinobi (arcade) - $1 high nostalgia factor and fun.
Shinobi III - $1 Fun, liked the horse riding.  Will play more.
Sonic $1, fun but I'm not very good, I doubt I'd spend an extreme amount of time playing this.
Sonic II,III,Knuckles - $.75 Checked them out but not sure I'd play them much more.  I'll give them a "I put a quarter in" rating, $.25 cents each.
Sonic Spinball - $.25 Played once, seemed boring.  I might try it again.
Thunder blade - $0.  This game is crap.  I will play it again to attempt to unlock Space Harrier, but I won't enjoy it.

It's interesting to note that I'm valuing the games I like around 1 to 2 dollars.  I think that explains why I haven't been buying many classic games on VC or XBLA.  I think if they did come down to that price range I'd spend a lot more money there.

So far I've gotten about $21.50 dollars from about half the games.  I'm still excited to play some of the other platformers like Ecco and Vector man.  The real question is whether I'll get any value out of the RPGs.  It's hard to justify playing them on my 360 when I could still be playing Fallout 3.  I tend to play the older Japanese style rpg's on my DS.

The museum features and videos are ok but pretty sparce.  Manuals would be nice, as well as promo art, tv commercials, etc.  There is a PDF available on SEGA's site with more detailed instructions.

I'm disappointed there are no shoot'em ups in the collection.  Did Sega really not produce any for the Genesis?

Overall I'm highly enjoying this collection and I think I'll eventually get my money's worth out of it.

This collection is a lot of fun! 0

I've got to admit, this collection of Sega games has brought me a lot of fun (and achievements) in the last few days. I rented this off of GameFly but I moved over to the "Keep" option very quickly as it only cost me $12.16 after tax and my $5 discount (yes GameFly is awesome sometimes).   I myself have never owned a Sega Genesis, I was a Nintendo Kid who grew up with a SNES and a GameBoy. My Genesis gaming was set to Sonic 1 and 2, MIchael Jackson's Moonwalker s...

Secret Short Review 004- Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection 0

SONIC'S ULTIMATE GENESIS COLLECTION  + Great compilation of older classics   + Fantastic Price Point. + All of the ports are exact copies of their older selves...   - ...for better or worse. Most glitches and such are fully intact.  - Some of the game choices are a bit odd... do people actually remember Decap Attack or E-SWAT?  Ah, the 16-bit era. I admit, my childhood wasn't exactly filled with the typical SEGA vs. Nintendo console war that people have experienced, as we were a family that...
