Cryptic Studio recently announced that if their one year old MMO champions free to play structure becomes a huge success, then its possible they may follow suit and add a free to play structure to Star Trek Online.

I wonder if Jeff will be pissed about this, espicially since he shelled out for the Lifetime Subscription. either that or im sure he doesnt care too much since he doesnt have time to play it.

I had a lifetime subscription to LotRO before it went free-to-play.  What Turbine did was every month they give free points to the store to the lifetime subscribers.  I like this because I'm able to buy future content and expansions for LotRO for free.

I have a STO lifetime subscription as well, I hope Cryptic does something like this if they do go free-to-play.

Man, I thought Star Trek was already free to play. I'm actually impressed it's still going, but then again, I guess they have the fan base to support it.

Why would he be pissed?  He invested in the game to make it
a better game.  I have the Lifetime sub as well.  The issue is that
F2P usually has some limitation or minimal amount of things to
pay for.  I know the upcoming F2P for Champions Online is adding
some restrictions to "archetypes", but if it doesn't keep you from
enjoying the missions, I don't see this as a major drawback.

They've also brought back Lifetime subs for both STO & CO. So
if anyone wants to have it all, they're welcome to pay for it in
advance.  I don't know why somebody like Jeff would bother with
a Lifetime sub for anything (unless somebody else was paying
for it).  He doesn't have the time, I would think.  I imagine if you
play/review games for a living, you must do something other than
    games during your time off.
