Looking at Steam Early Access, there have been way more games added to the initiative than I thought. I expected it to be used for stuff along the lines of Minecraft and DayZ that are constantly in development. Instead, it's just "open beta time for everybody", for a bunch of games that are often only a month or two from release. Also, I'd be really curious to see how the sales data work out; it seems like games sell better when first released on early access, and when the actual release day comes, the game doesn't chart nearly as high. Are the vast majority of players who were going to buy it just end up buying the early access version? Or are the games selling worse overall because many websites don't re-cover the game when it goes from early access to full release?
