Does Steam auto patches the games or do I need to do it manually? I wonder this, because people talk that the patches help Alpha Protocol in a number of things, but for me it's still junky as hell. Maybe I don't have the patches installed.
As long as a game is installed (and you have it set to do so, which it is by default), Steam will automatically patch it. Old patches are included in the initial game download.
I'm pretty new to steam and I'm still freaked out when it auto patches, it pops up at the bottom corner saying "Team Fortress 2 has finished downloading" and my immediate thought always is that it already was downloaded.
