Stella, a fairy with blonde hair and a dark tan, as well as the co-pilot for the Starflight Express, joins up with the player after her ride breaks down. She promises to help the protagonist get back to the Observatory if he can prove he is truly a Celestrian. By helping humans and gathering benevolence, the hero is able to convince Stella of his true nature, which also restores power to the Starflight Express. To avoid cursing, Stella uses a number of variations for the word flap.
Plot-wise aside, Stella helps out by managing the player's battle records and providing tips occasionally. When an Accolade--Dragon Quest IX's version of in-game Achievements--is earned, she will also inform the player of this.
