In Sunset, the player takes on the role of a housekeeper for an affluent patron of the arts and music. With ties to a budding revolution, the housekeeper slowly earns the trust and respect of her boss, and as the insurgency starts to gain a foothold, both the player and the unseen boss begin an uneasy back-and-forth alliance and friendship.
Each day within the game, the player is given daily chores to do, like sweeping, mopping, changing clothes, or later, trying to keep the house in order as the owner desperately tries to stop the widespread destruction of art within the city. Through spoken and inner monologues, the narrative plays out little by little each day, with rides up the elevator each morning serving as a summary of the events of the city at large.
