For me, Super Smash Bros. Melee was the best. Brawl wasn't as fluid and chaotic as Melee, which made Melee outstanding IMO. And Super Smash Bros-well, Melee improved on everything that the original did.
Also, in Brawl, they completely screwed up Samus for me. Should I use the power-up to become Zero Suit Samus, who I cannot seem to play with? Or do I give it to Ike and get raped anally? Tough decision.
Super Smash Bros.
Game » consists of 7 releases. Released Jan 21, 1999
Characters from popular Nintendo franchises meet up for the first time (and then duke it out) in this crossover fighting game by HAL.
Brawl, Melee, or Original?
Melee was the best by far.
Nothing beats the announcer shouting "ROY!" at the character select screen.
Melee, the gameplay and speed flow better.
Brawl comes in second for sheer variety of characters, stages and items.
I voted for the original. Although Melee's probably the better game compared directly, Super Smash Bros. was one of my favorite N64 titles and was one of the only decent fighting games for the console. I remember the novelty of all the best Nintendo characters being thrown into one game feeling so original back then. Plus, I liked all of the characters - there are a few in Melee I could live without. All great games though.
"I'm gonna be Mr. Unpopular and say Brawl. It's one of the few Nintendo franchises that actually become better over time. Both the original and Melee were great, but Brawl just adds so much more. "This. I think the series improved with each installment. The first one was great, Melee was better, and Brawl added more to the already ridiculously fun franchise. Therefore, Brawl is my favorite and the one I consider to be the best.
" @Dalai said:I agree with the above two. Melee is great, but I don't hold it to be the be-all-end-all of the series. Brawl is just a more fun, zany game with more to see and do."I'm gonna be Mr. Unpopular and say Brawl. It's one of the few Nintendo franchises that actually become better over time. Brawl is my favorite by far. I don't much care for the Smash Ball, but other than that I love everything.
Tough decision, because I have many happy memories of Melee and my brothers and I put hundreds upon hundreds of hours into playing it, but I like lots of the additions that were made in Brawl. I guess I just had more fun with Melee so it gets the vote.
