Worthy successor of the versus series

If I were a lazy man, I'd sum up this game thus:

    "This game is awesome."

However, since I'm not, and one sentence reviews on games would be worthless, I shall expound on this.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is everything a fighting game should be. Fun, fast, frantic, visually impressive, and friendly to both newcomers and veterans. Seriously, it's an amazing game. Take Marvel vs. Capcom 2, weed out the roster to a manageable size, balance things out a bit, and you have this TvC.

What's really impressive is the fact that Capcom fought long and hard to get this released outside of Japan. Being littered with scores of anime characters, most of which are virtually unknown in the western world, this looked like one of those that would never officially escape the borders of the island country. However, Capcom was able to break the barriers of licensing and obscurity, at only the cost of Daimaou. However, the loss of ol' Bob in the Bottle is small potatoes, especially since 5 more characters, online play, and more took his place.

Although I'm more of a fan of 2D sprites, considering Capcom is shifting to 3D graphics exclusively for their new fighters, it was expected to see this in TvC. The models look great, and now just in a "great for the Wii" sense, but altogether aesthetically pleasing. Plus it's great that they got to ditch that old Morrigan sprite after 16 years.

TvC is an epic game. Whether you're a fan of anime, just of fighting games, or both, it's highly recommended and well worth the price.

    BUY IT.
