So I just got the Deluxe edition with the Shivering Isles and all the other expansions off steam for £6.80 and was wondering what mods I should use to get the most out of the game visually. I already played through this game to death on 360 when it was first released and would like something to change the way it works. Other than Qarl's Texture pack (I have a pretty beefy system so performance isn't an issue), anyone know of any good weather mods or other visual tweaks that would work with both the vanilla game and the expansions without too many problems?

Sadly stuff like this are large mods that take a strong PC. However you should check out the Oblivion nexus.
" @The_Laughing_Man: I've got a rig that can handle it - what are the names of the mods in those pics? EDIT: Found the site, got it, thanks. "Search around. I do not recall what I use.
I really dig the Natural Environment collection. It adds some ambient stuff (butterflies, rainbows), better weather patterns (storms will actually blow in, better fog), etc.
You also need to do something about the terrible UI on the PC. I've used Darnified and BTMod for that. More people I think tend to prefer BT but I gravitate more towards Darnified. It makes the UI really small and it cleans up the menus just about the same as the BTMod.
Qarl's Texture pack 3 (1GB amazing texture rework)
Oscuro's oblivion overhaul / Francesco's mod (changes a lot of gameplay factors)
Open cities (no loading while opening city's main doors, they just swing open)
Unofficial oblivion patch (Just get this)
illumintation within (windows light up at night)
Ren's Beauty pack (required for many other mods, also gives a new good looking race)
Cheydihal petshop (a pet which can fight! I have a panther, he's just a pup now)
BorsBedrolls (portable bedrolls to take a nap anywhere)
Bag of Holding (unlimited storage bag!)
Loading Screens (GET THIS. New, lots of awesome loading screens)
Elven Map (colorful detailed map)
Main menu replacer (replaces the main menu map video with scenes from the game)
Akatosh mount (gives you a mountable dragon!)
Put it in its place - enhanced grabbing (grabbing no longer means stealing, and you get praised for putting things like books in bookcases!)
Unnecessary violence combat overhaul (completely revamped combat)
Thieves arsenal (lots of new weapons for thieves)
Beautiful women (Makes all oblivion ladies look good!)
Natural Environments (GREAT MOD. Lots of awesome effects)
These are some of my favorite mods. If you feel like somethings missing in the game, just search a related keyword in google and you'll find a lot of options in TES nexus.com
have fun!
no prob. Oh and I almost forgot, you'll need Oblivion mod manager to nicely manage them and OBSE to run most of them. That's very important
also, as @ATrevelan said, get BTMod
" @armaan8014: Sweet, thanks! Just installed the game (I LOVE my uni net connection - 9.0Mbs download speed) and then got Qarl's texture pack and OBMM. Installed, reloaded the first dungeon (yet to make it outside) after having played through it quickly before the texture pack had finished downloading and I can't see much of a difference... Any way for me to check if it's all installed correctly? "Did you put the texture package into your texture folder?
QTP3 comes in a self installer format, did you get that? I'll post some pics for you to compare with (though quality will fall while uploading on GB)
isn't deadly reflexes a part of Unnecessary voilence mod? Maybe not, got them mixed up possibly. But yeah, I've seen that mod and thought of getting it sometimes.
Tell me, my character is an archer with skills like bow, light armor, lockpicking, acrobatics, athletic etc, but no hand to hand. Would this mod suit my guy?
@ThatFrood: Maybe Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul or Francesco's mod, though I doubt it. You could look it up in google though

Thanks for the pics - exactly what I was looking for. Once I'm out of the opening sewers, I'll let you know how are and if I can see a difference.
I'm also downloading the Natural Environments mod right now and will install that in a bit,

Sorry I'm a bit confused myself as to whether your pack is working or not. :(
You could also check whether you have this folder in your Oblivion directory or not:
\Program files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Textures\Qarl
Let me know :)
