My first experience with the Elder Scrolls series was Morrowind. I will never get that entire summer I spent playing that game back, but I wouldn't want it back. I have such great memories of just exploring the map. It was my first experience with a world so big.

So for my pick of what's in ESO is Morrowind itself, I have my doubts that they would be able to do this though. If they can't do that, then I will take just a fleshed out world that rewards you for exploration with sweet loot, obscure quests, and samurai orcs alone on a mountain that just wants a warriors death.

Imagine if UO and SWG rubbed their wieners together while touching each others shoulder. That's what I wish TES Online would be.

I wish it were a more single-player styled game, and instead of being an MMO it were a two player game.

I think Elder Scrolls multiplayer could be really cool. Think about how many quests there are in Skyrim. Too many, in my opinion. What if 12 people were all playing on one map and if one quest was done it never came back? Perhaps it was set up like a race to complete a quest between to people or a quest that can only be done by two or more people. Say eventually you and the same group complete all the quests and then the world is reset into a New Game +, but everyone keeps all their gear, gold, and property. It makes more sense to have one dude as the head of the mages guild and another as the head of the assassins, not one being all of those things. Perhaps once someone on the server takes the mages guild path, they are locked out of the companions guild and someone else can take it. At the same time everyone is Dragonborn and collecting shouts but at the end only one of you can be the true Dragonborn and there is a massive battle until only one is standing. In short, I think game companies are thinking too small. Or maybe I'm thinking too big.

If the game took place in all of Tamriel then I could see it working, but to have it all in one map like Cyrodiil would just be way too small.

    Dude.

You are hardly thinking too big.

No, really. An Elder Scrolls multiplayer game could be fantastic. What isn't fantastic is another fucking WoW reskin that takes too long to make and doesn't do anything radically different from what World of Warcraft already does so well.

However, an MMO just sounds like an incredibly difficult type of game to make, which probably has something to do with the hotkey gameplay. Simpler to make and balance.

Eh, about six or seven years from now it will come out to underwhelming response and everyone will just go back to the latest WoW expansion. And I do mean EVERYONE - by that time, WoW ought to be able to run on the better settings on even onboard chips.

While I'm not crazy about that specific idea, I totally agree that game devs are thinking too small.

Well, actually...I guess technically they're thinking too big! They all want to make the next World of Warcraft, but it's never, ever going to happen. Especially not by straight up copying it. Not only is that a boring and even cynical way to develop an MMO, but it pretty much dooms your game to failure. You can't out-World of Warcraft Blizzard.

I don't know. I just think the idea that other people could be walking around my Skyrim, doing hell knows what, is really cool. It makes the whole thing feel more alive and that is the point of playing those games to me, being immersed in the world.

A big, detailed, first-person, unforgiving, medieval type MMO is what I want to see. Sadly it look like its going to be a WoW clone.

Also for anyone who thinks you can't make an MMO like that, Mortal says hello.

@Aronman789: Exactly what I want. I read its been in the works for a few years now so it's nice to know that they can still make an awesome singleplayer game like Skyrim while working on this. I hope they continue to work on another singleplayer elder scrolls game.

@Aronman789: I wanted Mortal Online to work so bad. Starting from nothing with no direction and you just GO, I thought that was great. Also, the fact that there were secret caves that help ultimate loot that was unique in the world really appealed to me. I chopped a lot of wood in that game...

I know it's an impossibility, but something completely mod-able by the community whereas innovative artists and programmers in the TES community can create new content for the game. New armor, new items, new quests, etc... That's what I love about TES single-player. It's so mailable. Where else can you find Dr. Zoidberg mudcrabs, "Macho Man" Savage dragons and Warhammer 40k armor in the same game? Some MMOs allow UI modifications and the like, but I'd like to see this MMO take it a step further by allowing the community to completely overhaul the game's assets if they choose. It won't happen but that would be my wish and probably the only thing that would get me to play it.

I'd also like to see an option to join an all voice-chat server. The way it could work is if you're within a certain range of another character, you could hear their headset.

I think it'd also be kind of cool if they had roleplaying servers where you'd actually be rewarded for roleplaying a character. Not sure how that'd actually work, but it would hopefully get rid of annoying little kids running around selling loot.

It would be cool if you could set up a custom quest, too... maybe something like Infamous 2, where you write some dialogue and make a new user-made content.

Agreed. Besides an attempt to appeal to existing fans, I fail to see why this game needed to be called Elder Scrolls Online. Literally, the only thing this has in common with the other games is the world it is set in and that wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact names of places is not what made this series popular.

Obviously PvP would be amazing, though I'm sure it'll be a beast trying to beat those who have the time to spend all day every day gaining levels and items.More involved quests and story lines, and not so much based on run here do this same thing over and over, then talk to him and get 100 gold. I'm talking quests toward the end of Skyrim, like calling and riding on dragons, and the brotherhood storyline.

That's not the point. I don't want to see it at all. The last thing I want out of The Elder Scrolls is yet another derivative MMO with classes arranged around the holy trinity of Support-Tank-DPS and most of the quests involving collecting 5 pieces of mudcrab meat.

If you can ride Senche-Tiger, only then would I join the Dominion for ESO. The thing is, the ape-like Senche is roughly as tall as an Altmer (6'5"-7') on its hind legs, making it the size of a Bengal tiger (that just happens to weigh 3000 lbs) and therefore rather short on all fours. How is a 5'6'' Suthay-raht or 5'10" Cathay supposed to balance on that thing? A Senche-raht is a more comfortable steed, being 13+ feet long and proportionately longer legs. Roughly the size of a White Rhino ( since large horses do not weigh nearly 4 tons), they truly earned their nickname "Battle cats".

I'd like something as close to an actual Elder Scrolls game as an MMO can give me.

But they already have first-person view and sneaking. What more do you want?

I want server caps of like 100 people (overall, not online at once) so that you never get into a situation where the world loses its wide-open wilderness. More realistically, I don't want to see any small patches of forest where a dozen bears are in view, mindlessly patrolling their mob paths, either live or dead. Elder Scrolls isn't Elder Scrolls unless it maintains the illusion of a real world, at least when you're out of doors. The indoors parts and the parts with dialogue have always been its weak point.

Nothing. I am no longer a fan of how TES does gaming anyway, but I don't think another MMO is what the market needs.
Massively multiplayer games will be seen a the biggest mistake ever made in gaming. "Sure people made money in taht era, but itb was a dead end for gaming" will be teh legacy of MMOs. In twenty years people will say, "Why would you want to play with more than a few people. Why have an experience like playing baseball with 20 people in teh outfield...it is stupid."

What we think of a 'sandbox world game' will be a game with you and a few friends that is full of artifla intellgence characters that is role playing and making your experience in that world EXACTLY what you want. More people does not really add more dynamism to games, there is a certain amount of people you can interact with and it is not 500, 1,000 or 5,000 people on a server.
