The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
I am Going to Control My Hero With... [PC]
Probably with a 360 controller on a PC. Unless I find I really like the keyboard and mouse setup. Or if there is no controller support.
You should just buy Rock Band drums, that's how Elder Scrolls pros will be playing Skyrim.I will be playing with a racing wheel.
Should I buy a racing wheel?

Rock Band drums are for fools. Dance pads will be the new hotness... again.

I see no problems here. 5 Inputs should be enough.. in fact with a pedal. Whoa, almost too many inputs.
I'm trying xbox controller in my left hand for movement and mouse for looking around. If it doesn't work then I'll test both and decide. I'll probably use the mouse for menu's no matter what though.
I'll probably use my Dualshock 3 (via motioninjoy), since it looks like the UI's been designed around consoles again anyways.
Honestly if it weren't for the fact that the PS3 version is probably going to be the buggiest, I'd be getting it on that rather than PC.
Vin...jorbear, don't buy a racing wheel.I will be playing with a racing wheel.

I will be using a controller, as my fiancee and I will be laying in bed playing it together.
Mouse and kb if I play again after that run.

Yes, if there is any game to get a racing wheel for it's Skyrim. I aim for total immersion when I play Skyrim, that's why I already got my wheel set up for when I go horseback riding, and my super scope for shooting arrows while I am riding.
Keyboard and Mouse will be my main though I will switch to a 360 controller to try it at first. If it feels good I could use it in parts of the game that do not require the precision of a Keyboard and Mouse.
I'll be using the keyboard and mouse. I have an Xbox controller handy in case they really screw up the UI or controls. I'm worried about how they will implement the dual weapon controls and the quick select system. I'm also worried about the menus, as elegant as they look they are extremely geared toward d-pads and their track record for PC UI conversion since Oblivion has been terrible. Still, the PC controls would have to be really bad to make me give up mouselook.
I'll see how the analogue stick controls feel. I feel like the worst part of any Bethesda game is trying to aim with ranged weapons/abilities. Mastering fireballs in Oblivion felt like dancing... while running backward... and maybe jumping...
If they continue to suck, I'm going keyboard and mouse.

Dance pads were great for Oblivion, but Skyrim requires something more; specifically the Mad Catz Pro Guitar. It even has pro in the name!
That controller has an illegal amount of buttons... I like it.
I wish someone would mod a Bop It to work on a game console. That'd be too cool.
The menus and UI feel really great with the 360 controller. Was always planning on using that, but after spending a little time with it, it feels like they were tailored for a gamepad.
Though I've only played the 360 version. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a different UI for the PC.
i have forged a sword and shield containing the inner components of a PlayStation move this is how i plan to control this beast called skyrim, my body is ready.
I'm so glad this thread turned into "crazy controllers" instead of the stuff we will actually use. :)
Probably KB/M, but I will try my wired 360 controller - it worked out really well in DE:HR, you could grab the mouse for hacking any time, but control the rest of the game with the pad. Hopefully dual-input support will be handled well in Skyrim, because if I do play with the controller, I'll still want to use the mouse for menus and such at least.
Edit: teh jokes, right. I'm going to hook a theramin to my PC and play without touching anything.
I recently tried to play New Vegas on a console. Wow. Just - wow. I'm sure it is enjoyable that way if you don't know any better, but mouse and keyboard with 100 points in the guns skill, and a couple of mods (sprint, press "g" for grenade, and a base movement speed increase) and the games movement and shooting is pretty much like Modern Warfare.
So yeah, going from that to trying to play the game with a controller makes me understand peoples complaints with the shooting in that series.

I generally always prefer mouse and keyboard for first person games, unless the inventory sucks for PC.

After the Major Nelson announcement, sure?
