The fifth installment in Bethesda's Elder Scrolls franchise is set in the eponymous province of Skyrim, where the ancient threat of dragons, led by the sinister Alduin, is rising again to threaten all mortal races. Only the player, as the prophesied hero the Dovahkiin, can save the world from destruction.
What race will your first character be?
I always played as a Redguard in Oblivion. I'll probably give Nord a try just because its set in Skyrim, though.
It depends on how the character models look in this game.
If they keep coming up with vastly improved designs such as the Khajiit and Orc then I am gonna have a hard time choosing.
I'm likely going to be playing as a Nord as I'm a Space and Fantasy racist.
This is Commander Shepherd and Skyrim is my favourite game in the citadel.
I had a recent idea for the character I want to play. I think I'll play a crafting focused character. So, I'll focus on the three crafting skills they're including: smithing, alchemy, and enchanting so I can make myself the awesome-est of the awesome gear! Other than that, I'll probably be training one-handed weapons (specifically daggers), conjuration, sneak, and destruction so I have some ranged attacks. As far as race goes I might play a Khajit.
Nord.
Although since High Elves are in charge of the Empire now... racial superiority benefits, anybody?
I'll probably choose Nord or Imperial. Because I'm racist like that...i think your topic is stupid. the games not even out so there's barely any info on that subject.
besides, the game's gonna be in a nord setting (where most of the armor are made with bones and other nordish crap). i miss the imperial armor. full plated goodness.. all gone.

I hear that in Skyrim, you play a voiced character named Hawke, who can be male or female but only human race.
Finally a game that understands that all these races are just too confusing. I don't want all these options, I want the game to cater to my stupid little mass market consumer brain.
Fuck that! Argonian bitches! I don't need no water breathing spells.
Nord. First playthrough of the last couple of games in the series my first character is always based on the region. Morrowind = Dark Elf. Oblivion = Imperial. Skyrim = Nord.
I hear that in Skyrim, you play a voiced character named Hawke, who can be male or female but only human race.Oh, i see what you did there.
I think I said nord at first but the more I look at the orc pic, the more I am leaning to being an orc my first time...
Probably some kind of human. I tend to play as a Breton for magic defence and the restoration skills, but the rest of my character is all hackin and slashin. I'm still not decided on whether I want to lean towards magic or meelee in this game. As cool as the magic looks in Skyrim, if it's just going to be another run backwards all the time situation then I'm certainly not starting with a mage.
Nord or Orc, not sure yet, maybe some more screen shots and vids will help me make up my mind because it's not a big deal but I honestly can't make up my mind.
Dark Elf, probably, and I will be a roguish mage. Anyone know if they are introducing some sort of persuade/diplomacy/speech skill into Skyrim? Simply because I remember pretty much all of the player dialogue options being completely awful in Oblivion, yet really good in Fallout 3.
