Cannibalism occurs when a creature eats the flesh of a member of its own species. Cannibalism is frowned upon in organized societies, and has made several appearances in video games as listed below.
The villainous Crab People from South Park try to take over the world by making people into Metrosexuals. They taste like crab, yet talk like people.
Characters that do not speak the localized language within the context of the game. An example being everyone in Persona speaking English while the story states that they are speaking Japanese.
When developers and publishers can't resist putting themselves in their games, either in the title or actually within the game itself.
Some games have included developers commentary. These comments can be in text form, audio that plays in the game or the menus, or video. Sometimes they are just added in the collectors editions.
When a prominent character is voiced by a member of the development team. The authors Clive Barker and Harlan Ellison are good examples of this.
Industry jargon used to describe a troubled development cycle that results in long delays, extended periods without new info, and often radical changes to the game.
The usage of drugs by the protagonist or NPCs.
A fictional language and/or script created exclusively for the world in which a game is set, such as Tolkien's Elvish or the language of the Talan in Outcast.
The concept of a game referencing another game through mockery, parody or even directly. A game reference to the same franchise does not count.
Swearing, cursing, call it what you want. It is an expression of anger or frustration, in most cases.
A reference to another role the voice actor played previously, whether it be quoting something that character said, an item they're famous for, a shared article of clothing, or something of that nature.
Satire is a form of humor that ridicules aspects of real-world society and culture, usually making a serious but indirect point about the subject that the player is allowed to infer. Games such as Metal Gear, EarthBound, Grand Theft Auto, and Fallout, for example, satirize American culture.
Voice Acting is the art of providing voices for characters in games, television shows, films, radio programs, and other forms of media.
