@jim_dandy: Good god, what? Hahahhaha. I'm sorry, but you really are quite an odd one aren't you.

Ok... Ok, look, I give up. Seriously. Just explain it to me. Are you just a weak ass terrible troll, or are you a troll who gets lulz not by insulting people but by confusing ever loving shit out of them? I can't tell. I want to believe it's the latter, because that'd be really original and amazing. But, at the same time, it seems like you're the saddest troll I've ever come across. And trolls are just sad anyway, so a troll who's bad at trolling... That's like failing at failing.

You are either one of the most awesome people I've ever come across on the internet, or you are the biggest sad sack waste of space. So, which one is it.

@jim_dandy: There we go. Finally! Attempts to play on the insecurities of an opponent, with statements the troll honestly doesn't necessarily think are true or even care about, in an attempt to make the troll feel better about his own insecurities. But I would remind you, son, that I just because goaded you into showing your true colors, that doesn't make you any less confused or ineffective in your trolling. It took you this long to even place, and what you put out smacks of effort.

Lately, I've kind of noticed that trolling on the internet seems to be moving towards passe, and think your weak contribution really seems to be confirming that. You're kind of like a backwash.

@Ragdrazi: Well, I guess I could point out that you're the sort of person that enjoys internet arguments in order to constantly defend his e-peen. You've been fairly predictable in your responses.

You seem to think you're some sort of master debater (hah), yet you project your deficiencies, are a hypocrite, and use nothing but fallacies of argument to defend your position, and have a passive aggressive demeanor that you deny, passive aggressively. :)

Actually engaging a debate with you would be pointless.

I think the best part though, is when you said you were "beating on me". That was a good one.

@jim_dandy: Huh. Well, ok.

I do have to say, though, I wasn't kidding when I said I haven't yet figured out how you were supposed to be insulting me. You do really seem to have the troll rhetorical flourishes down. It's just you seem to lack the mean punch that is the central focus of being a troll. You... You're kind of an odd one aren't you.

Yeah. It does seem that way doesn't it. The only piece of information that makes it seem a little different is the fact that events in DUST will effect EVE online. That, I guess, would give it little more of an RPG feeling, because players will be able to hire themselves out as mercenaries for EVE players. Still, that all seems really "meta" to me. Too much so to really matter to the playing of DUST.

It's apparent that your mind was already made up and you had a copy-pasta response ready (if not digital, then mental) for a someone who would "defend" the game he likes.  I was merely trying to explain what I find fun in EVE.

If you listened to Yahtzee's opinion (who, btw didn't actually experience the player corp part of EVE and merely judged it from the outside) and then accepted that as fact, then that's fine. I don't care.

I call World of Warcraft work and make fun of my friends for playing to grind; it's my opinion. They find it fun and keep on playing anyway.

To each to his own, but if someone else chimes in and says "I find EVE fun", don't come in and tell him he's wrong.

For those with open minds: EVE is a very different experience than other MMOs. If you try it, consider finding a player corporation. The players are the people that shape the world. The people and events of EVE are unpredictable and remarkable.  The missions (aka "quests")  or mining are merely a means for making money to expand your collection of ships and equipment. I highly reccomend the player vs. player combat, though it will take quite some learning to become adept.    The game requires patience and a certain level of intelligence that not everyone possesses so don't feel down if you wash out.  Oh, and play the tutorial. It will help shallow the learning curve. "
The only thing that is apparent is that we're on a message board and that I was offering you my opinion. As you recall, you started us off on that route by offering yours. It would appear, however, from your giant wall of text, that you have decided to get offended. Let me set this straight. I've played EVE. I walked away bored, and I've told you why. I've played WoW. I walked away bored, but for very different reasons.  To each his own, indeed. But I'd invite you to never again tell me what I should and should not do, and I'd remind you that you did not say "I find EVE fun." Like all true fanboys, you said "I find EVE fun, and here's why you don't." Not content there, you then went on to say that if you don't find EVE fun it's because "the game requires patience and a certain level of intelligence that not everyone possesses so don't feel down if you wash out." From my experience I think you're wrong. The game requires one thing, and I think you are demonstrating very well what that one thing this. "
So, on the subject of DUST 514, here's an EVE-article.

@jim_dandy: I'm sorry, but what? In your post here, I can't even begin to understand what you're trying to say. In particular, "but you have to understand what I say to you is without mine." Without your what? And, my, it would seem you think quite highly of yourself to believe you've somehow "bruised my ego". I'm confused as to what you are supposed to have done to have bruised it. I don't see what "weasel words" I've used, nor do I think the term can be correctly applied to anything that has been said in this conversation thus far. But if it really is as important to you as you're making it seem to suss out what my emotional state has been while talking with you here, personally i'd say "vaguely annoyed".

You say I've been trying to twist your words, but you'll notice how many direct quotes I've used from you here? It really is starting to seem like you're just not very aware of how you're coming across. I think your badly constructed post here is yet more evidence that you're kind of a poor communicator, and I am sorry for having beat up on you so much.

@Ragdrazi: You're still obsessing over this?

You can say you're not angry but you've put passive aggressive weasel words in indicating you are.  It's unfortunate I've (unintentionally) bruised your ego so much by trying to explain my opinion, but you have to understand what I say to you is without mine.

I wasn't trying to weasel out of anything. I was just trying to apologize because you keep trying to twist my words. It's unfortunate you feel that you're above such behavior and yet you engage in it.

Do we need a disclaimer for all our words?

@jim_dandy: Alright then. To interpret what you've said "correctly," you did not, in true fan boy fashion say "I find EVE fun, and here's why you don't." Instead you said "I find EVE not boring, and here's why you don't." I don't think it's particularly subjective to say there is no real difference there.

I'm sorry to keep having to repeat myself, but I haven't found anything you've said to be particularly insulting. At least not to me. The way you're talking now, seems like you may not be aware how much of what you've said has appeared to be typical fanboy blather. Yet again, I have to repeat myself and say there is nothing wrong with stating your opinion on why you like something. But that aint what you did is it? Instead you said why others are wrong for having their opinions. The fact that you had not at any point indicated that it was also your opinion that a person can have intelligence and patience and not enjoy EVE sort of points to the poor social skills that would be required to be that unaware of how you were coming across. So maybe I should be sorry for beating up on you so hard?

Personally, I think you're just trying to weasel out of what you've said in the most passive aggressive way imaginable, but, eh, I could be wrong.

Oh, and don't worry about me. I'm not angry. This isn't angry. You'll know when I'm angry.

You may not or may not like me then.

@Ragdrazi: Sorry, you misinterpreted what I said as an insult. EVE is not for everyone. I meant you need to enjoy the niche and have some intelligence and patience.

You can have intelligence and patience and not enjoy EVE as well. I see that is where the misunderstanding was.

You came in and said EVE was boring, and I said it wasn't. This is obviously subjective.

I have just tried to explain my opinions for liking something and for some reason this has angered you and made you insult me. I'm very sorry for this misunderstanding.

I didn't misunderstand you at all. You did say it was not for everyone. Specifically, you said it was not for people with less intelligence and patience than yourself. I disagree. I said the one element clearly required is the kind of obsessive fanboy dedication you explicitly display.

I fail to see what I have interpreted as an insult in any this. Clearly, I stated that ~you~ had interpreted my opinion as an insult. And I hope you have as that was more or less the intention.

As I said, the only thing I've found more repetitive than EVE online has been its fans, and you'll notice how, between this response and the last, I've had to repeat every point in the hopes that you'll get it this time? Is this the level of intelligence one must possess to see any point in EVE online?

The most exciting thing about this video is the last few seconds showing it's made by CCP.  I'm certainly intrigued to see what they make of an FPS game but more particularly how it feeds in to the meta game and actually having an affect on the Eve universe.
