Doom 3: BFG Edition Launches Today

Never was much of a fan of Doom 3.

Maybe I'll give it another chance if this is cheap enough.

Gimme some reviews. To buy or not to buy. Some have said the graphics aren't updated very much since the original Xbox version, having never played that one should I grab this?

I enjoyed Doom 3. I hope Brad and Patrick keep fighting the good fight.

So did they update Doom I and II in this package with the Tech 4 engine?

Agreed. I absolutely loved that game.

I wouldn't mind seeing a quick look of it. I know it's mostly just the same as before, but there are supposedly some graphics and mechanics changes, as well as some new content. Still not sure if it's worth buying.

Doom 3 might have got more credit if it didn't get absolutely outdone by Half-Life 2 in every possible way. Even the engine was kind of shitty, only worked in the dark.

WOW, not really on my radar and still isnt but that trailer was kinda awesome!

Short guide to make some easy money:

1)Take your old successful game.

2)Make it in 16:9 and add some "High-Res" Textures

3)Dumb it up with always on flashlight

4)Release it with a cool new name and enjoy your revenue.

Edit: Also still missing quite a few Dooms, so not "all". It's also sad they didn't bring over the co-op from the Xbox version.

I'd really doubt that. If they got Rage running at 720 at 60FPS, I'd be surprised if they couldn't at least manage that here (and maybe even 1080).

almost certain the always on flashlight is optional.

There is a mod for Doom3 (PC) for coop.

Doom3 was the game i replayed the most.

Hey at least you get a discount on Steam if you already own it. I was on board with this idea for the future support of the Oculus. If they've also made it so I don't have to trick the game into playing in high res as well, that's alright with me.

Playing through Doom 2 on Ultra-Violence brings back SO many memories. Glad they made the bundle for the PS3 since the 360 got doom goodness a while ago.

Six or seven years too late for a 360/PS3 version but god damn I might pick this up after the holiday releases pass didn't realize it was only $30.

I had a ton of fun with Doom 3 when I played it in high school... I think I need this.

No, it is not on the list of new releases (the top three on that list are Rocketbirds, Arena Wars 2, and XCOM). It doesn't show up when I search for Doom. The only result I get when searching for bfg is Alien Breed 3: Descent.

@RAMBO604: It would have been the highest I would have accepted this. Considering what you get, if you like the games enough, it's a steal.

yeah that's my question as well

They used that as a base to bring the games to the PS3 version of BFG (since they were only on XBLA before)

I don't really know what you mean by "update" though. What you saw in the video is what you'll get. DOOM, DOOM II, DOOM 3.

No thanks. I bought the id pack during Steam sales, probably a better deal than this. Also, Doom 3 was boooooring.

<Queue Doom 3: BFG Edition>

When I play the old Doom and Doom II Steam versions the graphics look much worse than the Xbox version Brad was playing. Yes, I made sure to use High Res mode, but I didn't install any extra texture packs. Have the graphics for those two games been updated in this edition? Do they at least look as good as what Brad was playing? Or are they exactly the same? If you have a link to some side-by-side updates, do share. :-)

This game was actually pretty good. FUCKIN HATERS

Waiting for XBLA to update so I can grab this. >.< Also, what's with all of the Id hate here in the comments? Id makes quality stuff. Sure they take forever to put games out (like a lot of other developers do), but I personally haven't disliked something they've released. I even enjoyed Quake 4 at the time.

-edit- Unless this is a disc-based game in which case sadly it'll need to wait.
