Dragon Age: Origins - Battle Gameplay

Looks good. Glad it's coming out somewhat soon.

What if I FIGHT these ogres in mud...What if I told you we wouldn't be "fighting" in the traditional sense?

In all seriousness, is it so much to ask that enemies actually react when you hit them? This has been an RPG troublespot for some time.

seems pretty good, but I'm curious as to where all of the memory is coming from in this game since to be honest it isn't the most graphically impressive games ever.  I mean that 20G's of required memory has to be coming from somewhere...let's hope it's a helluva lot of well written dialog.

Am I the only one who thinks this game looks ridiculously bland and generic?

This looks like exactly what I want out of a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate.  Its gonna be a good day when I can go pick this up.

Yikes, I'm not bashing the quality of the game or anything, I'm sure it'll still be awesome, but I just lost a ton of enthusiasm for this game, I thought it was supposed to be some kind of action RPG. This is clearly a more traditional long HP bar, wail-on-the-bad-guys-with-the-same-animations-until-they-die affair.

Wow. How fucktastically unspectacular. I prefer watching water boil honestly.

Interested in this game, but to me this trailer makes the game look kind of meh.

Looks pretty generic battle stuff. Oh well, maybe its more fun to play than watch. I'm getting it mainly for the BioWare's story and character development skills.

Nobody in their right mind would play it like this. scroll waaaaaaaaaay the fuck out and play top down. It puzzles me why on earth they keep showing this camera angle. They did it with NWN2 as well and everyone i know also zooms that stuff waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out for maximum control... puzzling.

11 Years after Baldur's Gate and they still can't have the weapons make real contact with their target. Also where is the much publicized blood?

Judging from the posts here people don't get what "Spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate" means.  Here's a clue:  It's going to play alot like Baldur's Gate!  That trailer is what Baldur's Gate was.

Interesting... needs a biiiiiiit more personality, but the fighting looks interesting!

For all the blood and gore in the trailers, this gameplay footage is missing a large sum of blood and gore.

Combat seems at the most, uninteresting...It seems as if the caster has the AI of, stand in back, spam magic. And everyone else has the AI of, bash it till he dies.

Why is it, everytime I see Dragon Age gameplay, it's HUMANS?
Where's the Dwarves?

Wow. This trailer is perhaps the worst PR tool Bioware could have come up with. Why not have a clip of video showing what kinds of Badass moral choices you can make?

It's an RPG, what do people expect out of the combat? Seems like an evolution of the KotOR combat system which is just fine by me.

btw I just started reading the prequel book. Too early to say if it any good, but if nothing else it's good to know the universe a bit before playing. I found reading the ME book enhanced my experience playing Mass Effect.

Seems very Baldur's Gate-y except for not being top-down.  As the camera can be made top-down and I loved Baldur's Gate, I like this.

The trailers kind of boring, but the combat has definitely improved from the previous trailers.

Fights in RPGs are ALWAYS going to look lame. Just look at Fallout 3 and Oblivion for example. Its how those battles are being played that really matters. So stop complaining about how the combat looks, because its absolutly irrelevant to the gameplay, which is what matters.

As excited as I have become for this game... that movie just looks terrible. I have a terrible feeling it consists of single-click MMO hackan and slashan gameplay. If the depth of the combat is just "click here, click here, oh and make sure to click there! - equip new sword, sell old sword", I don't think any amount of blood/titties/blood soaked titties would make it enjoyable for me to play.

Never dug Bioware games, and glad to see the troll thing from Spiderwick Chroncles got some more work.
