What about a 'fell asleep on the couch and my friends drew dicks on my face' graphic?

Well, thank goodness the graphics have improved. Those early screenshots looked very WoW-ish cartoon style which is all wrong for Elder Scrolls.

Does anyone know if there will be territory control in the game? I haven't really paid much attention to the current info on it.

Is there a "Fuck Cops" tattoo like in GTA5?

This does seem like a pretty good character creation tool. I would make a fat Argonian.

Yeah great. I'm gonna spend like two hours making my character then decide it looks stupid and random it. It always happens. I usually just go with the buzz cut, no eyes, average face guy, with maybe a scar.

I like my faces dirty.

Also, the EVE Online character creator is one of the best I've ever seen. Which is super weird considering you rarely get to see the characters anyway. The reason I like it so much is that you can directly click on the face of the character to change its features. Having 500 sliders is not new and most people don't use those because it makes changing features way too obscure and convoluted.

Don't get me wrong, this looks really nice and with a lot of options, but I wish more games worked the way EVE does: if you want to change something, you just click on it and drag & drop.

looks good. Still not really feeling hyped in any significant way yet though...Elder Scrolls has always been a solo experience... It is hard to imagine it otherwise... also minor peeve but I'd really like to see a character creation system that has a bit more range on the physique sliders. Saints Row 2 still leads on that front. And while I can see why it doesn't happen often in games..( body mesh / armour incompatibility ) I think it would be great to see more variety.

@jamesjeux007: Sims 4 are doing that. The problem though is that it wouldn't work as well on consoles, so I doubt we will ever see it outside of PC exclusives.

@jamesjeux007: I'm not sure, I remember really liking Second Life's character creator back in the day. You could create the most insane-looking characters with that thing!

The true irony is a less stylized design will not only age this game instantly (wow survived this long largely due to its style) but also result in far far less mass appeal. If past mmo's have proven anything you're game is doomed to failure if it doesn't have a defined art style and generic realistic fantasy really doesn't help at all. It's a shame because I'm sure a lot of talented people worked on this game but it's inevitably going to end up just another mmo that hangs around for a bit, slowly loses its user base and largely dies within a few years.

As impressive as that is in the way of variance, I really wish they would do away with sliders as the main mode of character creation. EVE's character creator has proven that you can do a lot by just straight up molding the character features instead of choosing a slider and go "OH WHAT DOES THIS DO!" and creating something akin to this

Watching this game feels like a slow motion trainwreck. Not in the sense that I hope they fail, but recent history indicates their failure is inevitable.

They seem to have left out the part in character creation where you pick a class -- Fighter, Rogue, Wizard, or Paladin -- that determines the skills you get, and that this is an Elder Scrolls game in name only.

I can't help thinking that this is all a waste of effort.

The future of RPGs isn't MMOs, it is large worlds filled with smarter AI characters that you can bring a few of your friends into. NPC with good AI allow for world building with a physical world that is more dynamic. If in your game half the population has the plague...well that how you game is going. If in your game your army, you built from a band of soldiers to a professional fighting unit, is siegeing the biggest castle in the realm...well that how you game is going. Currently, MMORPGs have to just be these stable worlds that are the lowest common denominator for everyone, BUT SCREW THAT...what is interesting is a world where things are happening.

I have not seen a single RPG, aside from EvE, that really uses the fact there are THINKING people play against you. Why have a MMO when teh interactions between people are so limited and your control over teh world is so ephemeral. WHo cares if there are 1,000 people on yoru server if they are not playing 'with' you and nobody has any real efffect on anyone else good or bad. The possibility for worlds that only you and your friends enter and control are so much more vast.

exactly right.... The more human players there are, the less the value of each ends up being. RPGs are about personal character development, both in terms of stats and in terms of the relationship the character has with the game world and the decision-responsive feedback they receive from it. If other humans can add to this formula then great... but outside of combat-based interactions this hasn't been the case yet in RPG gaming. MMOs have had a powerful novelty value but clearly the returns are diminishing over time. People want experiences to escape into...character lives to to role play in engagingly designed and diversely crafted game worlds. If the only reason that someone else is in the game with me is to kill them, be killed by them, or to fight enemies with them then I ought to be playing CoD or Diablo... both great in their own way but I'm ready for something new.

The description is a joking reference to the "clean faces" mods for past Elder Scrolls games.

Where's the tramp stamp? This is why I prefer my Elder Scrolls offline...and highly modable.

Still, who knows, maybe when it eventually goes F2P, I'll give it a shot.
