Seemed kinda boring and generic till I saw gameplay of dudes fighting with rollerblades. 
 
I wish Square would at least subtitle these characters for the rest of the world who doesn't live on tiny-ass island off the coast of China.

Yeah, looked pretty cool, but I have to wonder why this is past of FF13.
Is it just a name recongition thing? They saw how Neir went, soe everything square do is no FF, KH or whatever  just to get into people heads

It's not part of Final Fantasy XIII.  That connection has been completely severed and it exists as its own game now.  That's the reason that the game's name was changed.

I'm guessing the character designs were just horribly generic like Cloud, not that it's actually him in the trailer. I understand your confusion though.
 
Also, looks like it plays like Kingdom Hearts, i.e. nothing I would be interested in.

I do not understand what I saw, since I only watch final fantasy trailers for ze wemen. 
 
But I liked that cartoon style in the middle of the screen much, much, more. That was kind of neat.
