I tested this and I can tell you it's great fun. Multiplayer worms as you remember it, but better.

Might be interested in this, Only Worms game I ever owned was for the PS1. 
 
Here's a gameplay innovation idea: the worms can wear different kinds of armor that make different kinds of weapons less effective, thus forcing you to use more of your arsenal.

I bought worms on my PS3, Worms 2 on my 360, and now Worms reloaded on my PC. But it looks like the PC version will be superior for sure. Added stuff and a map creator/editor should add some great replay value to an already great MP experience. 

Man blast from the past. Not played worms in a long time.
 
While I'm here - team 17? Man those guys have been around forever. And I've no idea how  i don't really hear about them anymore have they made anything but a few worms games lately?

I'm tempted to preorder but I'm worried it just won't be as good as Worms Armageddon.

Makes me remember Worms Armageddon and the wonderful British accents. I might dig it out and give it a blast again. 
 
oh wait, it's £17.99? eff that.

Such a shame they insist on keeping those awful voices. I've grown up now to point where they're just obnoxious and disconcerting in a otherwise fun game :(

Played Worms 10 years ago during lunches at work, the guys from the floor below would come up for MP.  Good times.  Definitely excited for this.

I had OG Worms and then Worms 2 on the PC back in the day. I bought Worms from PSN aaaaand...it hasn't really changed since Worms 2. Like at all. Fun for a while, but it got old fast.

Am I the only one that misses Worms 3D??

Only 4 player online?  And I've heard from beta testers that the interface is terrible and there's no lobby system and it has terrible matchmaking.  
 
From all accounts, it actually sounds worse than Worms Armageddon in every possible way.  There is literally no reason to ever play this game.

Worms World Party was the pinnacle of the Worms experience.  
 
 @Sadisticham They released a sequel to Alien Breed on XBLA a while ago.  They're in a weird place.  Worms is their one bankable piece of original IP.   And as great as it can be, the ninja rope glitch destroys it when you're up against a team of players who know who to exploit it.

I love the Worms 2D games. This seems like a "best of" compilation of sorts from the description on Steam. 47 weapons (14 new) and 65 singleplayer campaign missions sounds like a lot more than what any of the old Worms games had, unless my memory fails me.

oh hell yeah!  I tried the console versions but it just didn't feel right.  this is gonna be amazing with online steam multiplayer! (I assume they are going to have that, if they don't it will be less awesome)

Oh yeah! It's been a while since I played Worms (since the second one I think), this seems like a good time to play it again.

I'll buy if it has the classic voices like soulman.

Love those little guys.

I so much loved Worms 1 - especially played the demo for 1000 times. But i was pretty disappointed in XBLA's Armageddon and this looks just the same, so i'll definitely pass

We only want a proper PC Armageddon replica. It's too much to ask for, sorry guys.

This looks exactly like the Xbox arcade remake of Worms 2: Armageddon with the battle pack DLC.

The sound effects lack luster.
 
I really hope there is demo. Want to know if its anywhere near to being as good as Armageddon.

I think though it is only fun in LAN-parties.

Worms make good bait for fish too.
