Guitar Hero 5: The (Feature) Set List

Now that it was some shitty song.

Haven't played a Guitar Hero game since 3, which wasn't that good.

Now Guitar Hero 2 was fucking awesome! (I think it had something to do with the developer)

To be fair, wouldn't it cost us more to sell us these songs as DLC?

Let's do some math.

Assume there are about 84 songs in the game, for simplicity's sake.  (I don't want a remainder.)  If they're sold three at a time as DLC, it'll total to 28 song packs.  At about five dollars a pack, you'd be spending...$140 dollars on those songs.  Instead, they're charging $60 for the game.  I'll go with the game.

EDIT:  Looks like this has already been said...I'll just go ahead and agreed.  :P

It should be rock. Where is the Led Zep, where is hendrix, floyd, more stones, stevie ray, clapton, queen, CCR, Who, Guess Who. Is it just me or would playing No Quater with an avatar page give ya goose bumps.

Meh. Kinda over the whole GH and RB thing now. The milked cow is bone dry.

I thought that first caption said "Rock Stars make their own pants". Character creation has gone deep, son!

Some great artists in it :s But yeah I'm more for the beatles rock band... maybe later though

I'm just tired of Guitar Hero.  I love rock band, I still play it.  I love GH2, and still play it.

I've not been happy with how Neversoft has done GH.  I loathed 3, didn't bother much with WT or any of the Band Specific and greatest hits stuff. 

I hate to sound the same as everyone else, but Meh.  3 to 4 GH releases a year seems a little much.

Just not excited about a newGuitar Hero. It feels more like GH 7 or 8, rather than 5.

Still doesn't look nearly as good as Rock Band.

Guitar Hero has lost its edge.  When it came out it was new and really exciting.  Now it's boring and repetitive.  The songs they pick aren't that great anymore.  It's just a way to make money.  While I think GH3 was the best one, to me it seems like that's where the franchise started its downhill trend.

Don't like the graphic style at all, but as a Rock Band player, I'm jealous of some of the artists.  I've been waiting forever for Dire Straits and Rammstein, but Elton John (depending on the song), more David Bowie, actual T. Rex (instead of a cover), King Crimson, The White Stripes and Blur are also exciting to me.

The set list seems really bland to me. Instead of getting artists that haven't been in the game before we get the same from the last few games just a new track. What I liked about GH1,2 and 3 is that it was for the most part different but probably a good 32 or so of those artists have appeared in a past game.

" This setlist isn't getting a very warm response from what I've been reading, but let me say, as someone who has listened to all the songs and follows the guitar game scene closely, 5 really is as "fresh" as they claimed it would be. Many inspired choices and instrumentally unique sections that will make for some distinctive charts, and this is coming from a Rock Band fanboy who was all-around disgusted with the bland, obvious direction Neversoft took with WT. 21stCSM is a bona-fide classic, and the drumming in the bridge section will be worth the price of admission. Jeff Beck's Scatterbrain could potentially be the standout guitar lead in the series.

That each song comes with its own Achievement-esque "challenge" is also promising. If they manage to improve the game's engine just a tad to get it up to Rock Band speed, and improve the sound quality, this will be a very significant step for GH.

As an aside, the general apathy-to-disdain for the franchise on this site is as hilarious as always, but, well, no -- it's actually beginning to get really annoying. Why do we need to read the countless "meh" or "make it stop!!!" posts? Is there any chance for intelligent rhythm game discussion on Giant Bomb? I don't remember this sort of uprising in the BEMANI games era. Why's it apparently so unforgivable to make another installment for a music game that adds new songs and features? While the games are popular, it's still a very niche thing (meaning, no, stuff like this doesn't necessarily need to be reported on alongside other game news, but still, leave it alone), and I don't think it's fair to compare it to other series when it comes to "milking it." I'm definitely more of a music fan than a gamer, so I don't think they've even begun to approach the saturation point, since each and every song provides a different experience. Tried GH Mettalica and GH Greatest Hits, Man those are the best in the series so far!
They have learned to make good note charts! Combined with nice features and good songs it could be a buy for me for the fifth installment
