@McSmunions:  Same here.  The combat wasn't engaging enough for me to continue playing.  I hope they make it better in 2.

Extremely self-congratulatory nature of the trailer is kind of annoying, but hey, The Witcher was pretty damn good. Sequel's looking great.

I liked the combat in W1. Far more interesting than the usual click, click, click, click, click, buff, click, click, click, dead, found in almost every RPG.

I just hope they have more character weapons and armor upgrades.

And W1 has an awesome story with a good twist.

I love that their demonstration of the "dazzling graphics" is showing a woman's clothing slowly disappear off her body.

@Ping5000: You know, on Polish standards this game is an amazing success. As far as I know, only Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood touched that level. So I think we can assume that this brag is quite honest.

Very underrated game. While people play shit like Final Fantasy 13, games like this one get missed, unfortunately.

Can't wait for this. The first one was a more enjoyable RPG than Dragon Age for me - and I played the hell out of Dragon Age.

this trailer's stupid little captions can be made much more fun if you play the Benny Hill theme and then say them out loud in a fake pre-1950s british newscaster voice. Try it, its fun !

I thought the same thing, especially when they aren't even that great.

1.5 million PC sales is impressive though, especially considering it sold almost entirely by word of mouth.  The 86% metacritic score doesn't really do it justice.  I've seen plenty of people (and I am one of them) who consider it one of the finest RPGs ever made.  That's what made putting the 86% score on there seem so weird to me - "Here's The Witcher's metacritic score!  It is significantly less impressive than the reputation you probably already know it has!"

Oh, and there's a frame inserted at 2:01 with the best worst English I have seen in a while.

I really enjoyed the first one - in fact it's up there as one of the greatest PC RPGs in my book. From rhe trailer it looks like they'll pick up right from the small cliffhanger at the end of The Witcher. I'm truly excited to learn more about this sequel!

Same here.  I thought the story and world was so much more interesting than in Dragon Age.  Dragon Age does have WAAAY better voice acting, though.

I've never actually gotten around to playing the first one.  I need a new PC so I can actually run post-2000 games on it.  I was going to get the 360 version until it was cancelled.

Game looks really good, and I loved the first one, so this makes me very happy and excited. But I gotta say, these guys kinda suck as making trailers. All the rendered footage was great, and good bits from the game and story hints, but all the stuff in text was pretty dumb. Yo, I don't need to know the metascore of the previous game in my trailer for the next one, or need to be told that the graphics are good, when you are showing footage. Or told that the combat is dynamic. Does that even mean anything?

To be clear, my issues are with the trailer alone, the game itself looks fucking amazing, and I can't wait. Day one purchase.

The first one was pretty epic. And based on that, I'm so going to buy this! Maybe not day one, but I'll get round to it when games releases dry up a bit. :-)

EDIT: I hope the English version is up to scratch out of the gates this time round, instead of sending out the better voice acting and general in-game text, when they release a BIG patch.

@moocow21: the voice acting in the enhanced edition is pretty good, I think. Though the voice acting in Dragon Age is exceptional, for a videogame, so still better, probably.

I kind of enjoyed the first one. The collecting of sex cards was really lame and immature. Also, the endgame was horribly unbalanced, allowing you to annihilate every foe in a radius of 10 meters if you had lvled up your fire sign. Still, with the improved visuals and innovative combat dialogue, I have high hopes for the sequel.

I really loved the first witcher, and because the developers are polish, it has this sort of tongue in cheek, campy feel to everything, which I really enjoy.
The story was GREAT, i enjoyed it even more than Dragon Age, because it was so original, not as cliched. Best RPG since the first KOTOR, in any case.
Also I'm Lithuanian, so I feel supportive of my Polish brothers.

Witcher 2: Even Witchier.  Running at 64 frames of Witchiness per second (WPS), with a 30% increase in the Witch per pixel (WPP) ratio, this is possibly the Witcherest game ever devised by man. Or witch.

Definite buy for me.
I bought the first one late after it was already patched and improved with directors cut and loved the heck out of it. It was very non traditional and fresh. Will try to get a pre order of this one if it will be made available or a collectors edition or both :)

Like others on the GB staff, I got this recently & will dive into it after finishing school in a few days, been a tough choice as I've also got Dragon Age Origins. Both seem like great RPGs & from what I saw of the Witcher on the PC the combat looks rather interesting, reminds me somewhat of the sword combat in Age of Conan. Too many good games to play :P.
