You might call this something altogether different from protecting baby badgers in Shelter.

Does this count as an FMV game?

That's really cool, even if the game itself might be pretty standard.

I like the art concept but it has that chroma-key look that ruins it for me. Didn't The Swapper use real world, made objects to greater effect?

Hmm.. Great idea, but something about it makes it look even more fake than if it wasn't made out of real objects. But cool project nonetheless.

I could be totally wrong, but I believe The Swapper used real objects that were 3 dimensionally scanned to create unique digital objects in game, rather than just importing images like it seems this game is.

I do like the look though. But I've played enough awesome shmups already to have little interest in a game that seems to be more about the visuals than a unique twist on really well trodden gameplay.

Hopefully it's good!

@joshwent: That was my concern as well, as a shmup this doesn't look that great.

I love that each level is a just an overhead pan across a real model. Great stuff.

"A bullet hell shooter"

Unless things change dramatically later on in ways that aren't depicted in the trailer or screenshots, this is about as far away from bullet hell as you can get.

I like the originality of the artstyle, but the gameplay as shown looks...severly underwhelming.

Just played this, twice. The gameplay actually has a few interesting new mechanics. The first is the interest risk/reward mechanic, which works well. The other is a "target practice" ending to each level, where you can earn extra money by turning red targets green but have to be careful not to shoot them again or they turn red again (this actually gets pretty tricky after the first couple levels). The audio fits the game extremely well, all the ships make "clunking" metallic sounds, and the music is fun and relaxing.

The backgrounds are the highlight at first, though they do repeat (or at least large sections of them do), and I lost at least a couple points of health on my first try just because I was admiring them.

Don't go into this expecting a super hardcore SHMUP, it's less like Ikaruga and more like 1942. I was worried about the gameplay for the first 3 stages, but around the 4th level the difficulty has ramped up to a challenging level.

If you dig the art style, and are OK with it not being a super fast paced SHMUP then I say go for it. It's only 5$ and I already feel like I got my money's worth after the first 1/2 of playing.

I don't think it's something I'd be interested in playing (shmups aren't my thing), but the maddest of props to it's creators for, um.. creating that.

Cool idea but why does it look so cheap? Looks like they took pictures of real models and then just badly cut out the backgrounds and slapped them together in Flash.

It reminds me of Raptor: Call of the Shadows for some reason (beyond the fact that it's a shmup) and that's awesome.

Yeah that chromakey look kind of breaks the illusion :( It's a tough problem though. At least their backgrounds look fantastic

This seems like a nostalgia product for people who loved old arcade classics like 1943. Is there a big enough market for games like that anymore? I love the aesthetic but I don't know if I'd pay for that kind of game today.

Reminds me of the game Platypus. Scrolling shooter where everything is made out of clay.
