Correction (I think...) I believe the DSi does not play MP3s. It's some other format, Brett from Gamesradar was bitching about that some time ago.

If I could get it for simply trading in my DS Lite I would, but I don't want to pay an extra $100 for camera I'll never use and bigger screens...as cool as it may look right now.

Pretty cool! I've been thinking about purchasing a DS for awhile now, and it looks like the DSi would be the one to get.
By the way, I love it when you guys record videos like these. It reminds me of the old "How to Build a Bomb" videos.

The DSi only plays AAC files, not MP3, so far as I can tell.

If it drops to a pricepoint lower than or equal to the current gen DS lite i might be tempted to switch. from what i can tell the store, bigger screen are the only features i would deem upgrade material.

you need to get a folding pocket knife Jeff, those keys just won't do for shanking boxes! I recommend a Spyderco or Benchmade.

Unless GBA games are re released as DS games, I'm in no hurry to buy a DSi. Plus the no MP3 support is kind of a deal breaker for me. All my music is still in MP3 format and I'm not going to convert all of it just so I can listen to it on the DSi. That's what all the other dedicated music players are for anyway.
Other than that, still a nice product, just not enough for me at this time.

Awesome. Pity mine won't come with a velvet box complete with a mirror and lights but at least it'll be blue.

I wonder why Nintendo hates mp3s? Wii could play mp3s a long time ago and they stripped it from the system and replaced it with ACC also...

For any hopeful Americans, no, I'm in Australia and it didn't have the ultra fancy "You are the star and this is the greatest moment of your life" box, just the one inside it with the giant manual, although mine was just in English, so not as big. But who knows, maybe the special box will be a feature unique to the U.S or something.

Worst handheld revision ever, there are great gba games to be played and many of the new features were already available buying a flashcart and using 32GB SDHC cards (yes it is not legal in many countries including US but..). It is kinda an insult that a stupid third party flashcart adds a lot to a handheld and Nintendo can´t even add mp3 support (and other stuff that should already be implemented like reading PDFs from your SD), as others here said, the only reason to upgrade is the bigger screens and better sound.

Are the buttons and D-pad different? I really don't like the d-pad on DS Lite and if the d-pad is different I'll guess I have to check a gaming store and see if I like it. if I like the d-pad than that would tip me over I guess. The buttons for volume control and better screen and all that is icing on the cake.

Yes, I'm lazy and the nearest store that I can think of that would have a DSi on display for you to try is pretty far away.
