Looks like they're keeping that song too. Not that I mind but a lot but some people don't seem to like it.

Just got the atlus newsletter about this, I'm pretty psyched.  According to the importers I've talked to, it's an almost unilateral improvement on P3 and by far the best rendition of the game.   They really want me to play through that gigantic game 2 more times, don't they?

Why is everyone complaining about a US-only release? I'd have been happy enough to import the Japanese version of the game, had it included dialogue in a spoken and written language I actually understood. If you understand English (and you do if you're reading this site), import is always an option, is it not?
 
It might not be the cheapest solution, but at least it's a viable option.

By July I will have bought 4 versions of P3 and won't regret it one bit. Guess I should buy a PSP now...

Finally!  Can't wait to play P3 for the 3rd time :)

This is cool, but i would  STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST anyone playing p3portable as their first time through the game. The size limitation of the psp umd disk meant that all of persona 3's content could not fit. Consequentially, all or almost all of the 3d rendered in-engine scenes have been removed, such as the funny things that happen on social links. Those events will still happen, but all you see is a static background and talking anime head illustrations. So think of all the funniest scenes you saw in the endurance run. Most of those were based around compelling scenes that were great because of the on-screen actions coupled with the great writing. Now all you will have is the writing. 
 
Now that being said. As i have played through persona 3 on the ps2, i am psyched about this release and it was the deciding factor that led to me buying a psp. I am super-worried however that this release will turn off alot of people to persona, becuase its going to lose a significant chunk of its unique personality in this port.

Endurance run with Vinny and Jeff again please, the PSP can be hooked up to the TV so make good use of it and bring the endurance run back!
 
Also thank god for handhelds not having a region lock, no waiting for the European release.

I think I might buy a PSP for this game. And I already have P3 FES. I'm just curious about how much dialogue they changed for the female MC. Obviously most of the S.Links had to be changed, but how about befriending Junpei (I think, either him or Magician S.Link) on the first day of school for example. It would make more sense for him to either hit on you or a female character to take his place.

Not sure if it's going to be Endurance Run'd (Mass Effect 2 might work a bit better for it) but it's worth a Quick Look...

Awesome! I was just thinking about this game last night. I can't wait to see how different it is to play as a girl than it was to play as a boy. I'm not looking forward to grinding Tartarus again though. *groans* But at least PS3 makes it all worthwhile in the end.

There is something endemic to Giant Bomb that makes me want to play this game.

Eh, you're not missing much with the loss of those scenes.  The animated ones are still in there, just not the in-engine scenes, right?  The only one that was really involved in any way was the hot spring scene, and that's not a huge loss or anything.  The other 3D cutscenes were pretty static and uninvolved to begin with, so replacing them with static images and talking heads isn't a very big step down.
 
For a first time player, the pros vastly outweigh the cons.

Perfect! I was thinking that they weren't going to bring it out here for a while there.

Apparently the female protagonist can still "date" and ultimately get it on with Igor's helper. For the male protagonist this is the awesome Elizabeth, for lady protagonist this character will become a man named Edward. And no, its not a Twilight Reference. Its a reference to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. I am dissapointed his name is note "Male-izabeth"

I wonder if I'll want to play through this version if I already own FES...
