Dan insistence on pronouncing Azure "Azoori" is like pronouncing Red as "Reed"

Well, glad the 8-4 lot changed "Armed Blue"(which is the original Japanese title and no it does not make any sense in English) into "Azure Striker",

The MegaMan Zero stuff was some of the best megaman style gameplay Capcom did in years. The first 3 games are really challenging and fantastic. Super bummed they just completely dropped it.

They didn't drop it, they definitively ended it appropriately at the end of 4.

Yeah... put 3 made you feel so powerful and had a pretty cool ending. 4 just seemed sort of tacked on to me.

Anyway, just beat Mighty Gunvolt and it was a neat (albeit easy) little extra.

I'm sure everyone else figured it out too, but I'm pretty sure you have to kill the boss before his special move ends or it's a guaranteed death.

I feel like everyone needs to play dark souls just so they can remember what a "tell" is too.

Also I was a big fan of Mega Man Legends. It wasn't very hard and was quasi open-world. Which was cool for a Playstation game.

I'm thinking "Azure Striker" must be a play on "Blue Bomber", one of Mega Man's many monikers.

Mmm see and I feel like the Mega Man Zero/Mega Man 9&10 stuff was really weak straight-up Mega Man stuff all told. (I guess the ZX games were a lot worse, but still). I liked Mega Man 8 (sort of) but basically the whole series has fallen off for me since Mega Man X2. It just felt like they made games brutally hard in a really unfair way, and I say that as someone who got obsessive and finally beat Mega Man Zero 1, 2 and 3 on the harder difficulties and has loved the series since I was a little kid. They just felt messed up, not like the thrilling challenge of a Super Meat Boy or Dark Souls or something.

That being said, I may check this out just to see what's up with it. I don't really like this studio's past work though. Hmmm...

Seeing this immediately made me think of Mega Man Zero, and I didn't even know it was the same developer.

That collection on DS was amazing. Now I'm way more curious to see where this game goes.

Although Jeff isn't supposed to be playing Gal Gun games, I feel like he found a loophole and we should report it.

I am mystified and confused by his simultaneous lack and breadth of knowledge.

I agree. He seems to hit every other cylinder. That happens sometimes to self educated ppl., because they tend to apply themselves to subjects they like. Also critical discernment of what of what might be true or not can suffer, despite high native intelligence. But he has formal education I think. Dan's a trip! And he is killing it partnering/working off of Drew in the premium MGS play-through.

Jeff is his dour self, must be in a good mood.

Dan's doing Diablo 3 right now, allocate a little time between chores for that....

@assinass: Nothing that specific. It's definitely Dan's thing to be the dumb guy though, and he doesn't just enjoy it - he revels in it. It's oddly admirable, in a way.

@danryckert: The "Sniper Joe" you were thinking about is from Ninja Gaiden (and possibly Ninja Gaiden 2). He was a green army dude who was usually positioned so that his rifle shots would knock you off a narrow ledge into a bottomless pit. (Man, I can't believe I remembered that from the Nintendo Power Ninja Gaiden Strategy Guides!)

nah Dan is correct on this one.

He is. ;)

Is he?

He isn't. Well, maybe unintentionally. I have a friend sort of like Dan. Age 25, an IQ of over 130, but has the practical knowledge-set of a twelve year old. These people exist. Somehow.

As someone who has watched Dan for years over at Game Informer before he came here, I can confirm that he both is and isn't trolling. He isn't trolling in the sense that he doesn't say things (or make up stories) just to make people crazy. He IS trolling in the sense that he thoroughly enjoys his own public persona. He leans into the manchild stuff as hard as possible - it's become almost a point of pride for him that he can tell these stories, and he is as sustained by incredulity as a vampire is by blood.

Thanks for the knowledge, so it's his thing to mispronounce stuff?

A new Mega Man tribute game by the guys who made most of my favorite Mega Man games! Awesome!

Edit: And apparently Jeff didn't like one of the best SNES games ever. Not too surprising after the whole Yoshi's Island thing. I suppose next we'll learn he didn't like Super Metr... oh. Final Fantasy III/6 then?

I thought he never played FFVI. I remember him saying the last Final Fantasy game he played was IV.

Dan: Well, that wasn't bad at all.

*dies*

Jeff: What about that thing that killed ya?

XD

Best timing ever. I was wondering why it was called Nemesis "Fang".

Also, the word "victual" is pronounced like "vittle". The more you know.

Also, Drew strikes me as the real mechanic of the GB crew.

Man, despite some of his earlier claims to the contrary, Dan's videogaming skill level seems about perfect for Giant Bomb... Jeff on the other hand continues to assert his dominance in the office when it comes to understanding basic gameplay mechanics.
