Azoory Dreams... that's a game, right?

Man, Azure Dreams was the first roguelike I ever played, and it was long before I ever knew there was such a thing as roguelikelikes. I feel like that game would probably have done a lot better if it came out this year or last year instead of in the PS1 days. I remember it getting beat up a bit in reviews for its roguelikelikelike elements.

It's sky blue or something. It comes from Spanish word 'azul' which means blue...

The MegaMan Zero stuff was some of the best megaman style gameplay Capcom did in years. The first 3 games are really challenging and fantastic. Super bummed they just completely dropped it.

Yes and no. Azure I guess is sky blue, though it isn't really that specific. It's simply light blue. While the Spanish version is similar, the English word is taken from French, 'azur'. Most latin languages all have very similar versions, in Italian for instance it is 'azzurro'.

On another note I hope I wasn't the only one screaming at the screen to somehow make Dan realise that the specials on the bottom screen weren't free...the cost is even written on them! I wouldn't mind but he said he'd played it for a bit and Jeff seemed to notice it straight away =/

Also couldn't help but laugh after their groan at the dialogue, Dan saying "It plays fun". Dan you weird, strange man. Never change.

@danryckert: The "Sniper Joe" you were thinking about is from Ninja Gaiden (and possibly Ninja Gaiden 2). He was a green army dude who was usually positioned so that his rifle shots would knock you off a narrow ledge into a bottomless pit. (Man, I can't believe I remembered that from the Nintendo Power Ninja Gaiden Strategy Guides!)

I can't believe how boring this game seems. Im all for sidescrolling platformers / shooters but somehow my eyes just glazed over completely while watching this.

The enemy in Mega Man is also called "Sniper Joe"; he's green and has a shield, like Dan was describing.

Azure Dreams was a great game (a roguelikelike?). I loved it in the day.

I know this has nothing to do with the game in the Quick Look, but Dan mentioned it in the beginning and the memories all rushed back.

Man, despite some of his earlier claims to the contrary, Dan's videogaming skill level seems about perfect for Giant Bomb... Jeff on the other hand continues to assert his dominance in the office when it comes to understanding basic gameplay mechanics.

Perhaps Dan isn't the right person to be demoing sidescrolling action games. It didn't seem like he picked up on any of the mechanics or patterns as he played.
