Callisto is a major antagonist in the Xena: Warrior Princess franchise, first appearing in the episode "The Greater Good". She has also appeared in three episodes of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. She is portrayed by actress Hudson Leick.
Often considered to be Xena's deadliest archenemy, Callisto was a young girl whose family was killed during Xena's warlord days. Vowing revenge on Xena, Callisto goes to great lengths to turn townsfolk against her and make Xena's life miserable. After killing Gabrielle's husband Perdicus, Xena allows Callisto to die in quicksand. Callisto returns with the help of Hera in order to kill her hated enemy Hercules. Her encounter with Hercules led to Callisto becoming an immortal. She was then recruited by Xena to help her stop Velasca, who had just become a god after eating ambrosia. Callisto attempted to side with Velasca, but the amazon goddess rebuked her, leading to a fight where Callisto managed to grab some ambrosia and become a god herself. The pair were then trapped in a lava pit by Xena.
Freed by Gabrielle's evil daughter Hope, Callisto killed Xena's son Solan. However, Callisto realized that nothing would ease her anger or suffering, and instead wished for oblivion. Finished with her feud with Xena, Callisto once again joined Hope in exchange for her own demise. When Gabrielle had apparently killed Hope, Callisto mocked Xena and was, in turn, given what she wanted: a swift death from a dagger covered in Hind's blood. However, rather than getting the oblivion she desired, Callisto was instead sent to Hell. As a spirit, she helped Julius Caesar kill Xena and Gabrielle and later became a demon in order to fight the angels of Heaven. During a battle, Xena sacrifices her own soul to save Callisto, making her an angel. Callisto later reincarnates herself as Xena's child, her soul becoming Xena's daughter Eve.
Callisto is one of ten playable characters in this fighting game by Titus Interactive. This game is set after Callisto becomes a god, as she is able to shoot fiery bolts and create pillars of flame as attacks.
