    Sam is Henry's 13-year-old brother in the The Last of Us. He was born into the post-apocalyptic world, living a life not unlike Ellie's in a military-run quarantine zone. He leaves Hartford along with his brother after the military abandons the zone. While searching for supplies in Pittsburgh, the two meet Joel and Ellie.

    Sam forms a fast friendship with Ellie, bonding over their shared innate curiosity and playfulness as kids.

    Sam struggles with the idea of what happens when a person gets infected. He is scared of becoming just like one of the cordyceps-controlled husks.
