    Overview

Robo Aleste (JP: Dennin-Aleste: Nobunaga and his Ninja Force) is a vertical shoot 'em up exclusive to the Sega/Mega CD platform. It was localized and released in North America by Tengen, and in Europe by Sega. It is the sixth game in the Aleste series, released a month after the previous entry Super Aleste (known as Space Megaforce in North America).

The plot concerns the introduction of mech suits and airships to Japan during the Sengoku era, which had Japan divided into numerous states lead by separate daimyo. This shifted the balance of power, putting Oda Nobunaga's plans to unify Japan in peril after his allies are wiped out. Only with the help of a ninja squad of his own mecha does he stand a chance of victory.

    Gameplay

Robo Aleste operates like most shoot 'em ups of the era, where the player can boost their score by destroying enemies and collecting the capsules that drop from them, and can change their weapon loadout by picking up color-coded power-ups. Unlike many shoot 'em ups, the player has two options from the start that cannot be destroyed; the weapons that the player collects are shot from them rather than the central mech.
