Timequest

Background

Timequest was one of the first games released by former Infocom game designer Bob Bates after the founding of his own company, Legend Entertainment, in 1989. The game centers around time travel, allowing the player to revisit a series of historical events and repair the course of history after it has been disrupted by a nefarious Temporal Corps lieutenant.

Setting

The game meanders through a wide array of historical events, spanning from 44 B.C.E. to 1940 C.E. These events include:

• The attack on Rome by Attila the Hun
• The coronation of Charlemagne
• The coup against Harun al-Rashid of the Abbasid Caliphate by Yahya the Barmakid
• The signing of the Magna Carta by King John of England
• The siege of Peking by Genghis Khan
• The conquering of the Aztecs by Hernán Cortés
• The visit to Queen Elizabeth by Sir Francis Drake
• The attack on Egypt by Napoleon Bonaparte
• The planning of Operation Dynamo in World War II by Winston Churchill
