An Excitingly Simple Game
Seeing the... repertoire or collection, if you will, of games available for the WindowsPhone - the need to find something both fluid and extremely fun is necessary.
And Wordament fits that niche perfectly. To put the game's concept simply, the player need only link letters together on a 5x5 game-board to create words. It is that simple. However, it is extremely engrossing and for whatever reason, I can never put it down. The game is quick and each match is two minutes long followed by a 35-40(?) second break in which the player may look at all the words on the board and compare scores with other players on an online leader-board, pulling players from across the globe.
The game is easily accessible and although its quite simple, their is enough drive and challenge that putting the game down can be challenging if you are totally focused.
From a developer standpoint, they are constantly updating and gathering feedback from every denominator; seeing as it uses a specific lexicon that not everyone will immediately agree with. Lot's of confusion exists over what are actual common words and what are proper words.
But with all that in mind, the game is amazing. At the time of this review its quite free and quite popular. And it's one of the flagship games for not only WindowsPhone 7 but also WindowsPhone 8 and Windows 8 itself.
