I'd rather go a month without online play and a store than deal with a shit console that can't play games, or just RRoD.

The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.
'Small Number' of Xbox 360s Have Borked Disc Drives [UPDATED]
They may have led with most hardware failures in the first few years, but at least Microsoft is usually willing to replace people systems for free. You have to give them that at least. Hopefully, they'll work out these glitches soon.
@LiquidPrince: Yes, it is a reference to Robert Bork, whose nomination to the Supreme Court was blocked by the U.S. Senate. And now I know.
Any idea when the offending update was? And do we know if it's just newer games that it will have problems with or is it all games?
I believe my xbox was affected, have you heard who I contact to start that process?Clearing up some confusion
Clarification time! The console replacement plan that is the subject of some of today’s headlines is related to a previous update, NOT the system update that has been in public beta and will be deployed shortly.
The new disc format that is part of the beta has been rigorously tested across all Xbox 360 models and there are no known compatibility issues.
Hope that clears a few things up.
Bell tolls for the last survivors of the RROD cull of the ancient X360s. A minute of silence for those so dearly departed, adorned red rings and wrapped in towel shrouds, is in order. :(
OR IS IT A CONSPIRACY TO REMOVE THE REST OF THE OLDER X360S FROM THE BASE ALTOGETHER??? AND WHAT DOES J ALLARD THINK ABOUT THIS???
@LiquidPrince said:I am in that weird situation where I'm sure that I invented the work "borked", because I used it well before I heard anyone else use it.Is borked a word?As long as you keep using it, and people agree on its meaning, it will be.
But I suspect I probably heard it on TV and subconsciously absorbed it into my vocabulary.
I just tried every 360 disk I had in hopes of getting rid of this 20gb 360 that sounds like a blender, too bad...
This sucks. I got the disc read error, xbox live support told me it was out of date, so I popped open my 360, voiding the warranty, to clean the laser in a last hope effort. When that didn't work I just bought a new 360 S, and now they're going to give them for free. What the hell. How could I go through 3 xbox's in a 4 year span lol.
