I mean, what does it mean other than the fact that you play tons of games, mainly for a little number next to your name? Sure, there's a sense of accomplishment I suppose, but no one's really going to care when they look at your profile and see some of the easy games you play (Avatar for example). It will just make you look like you're obsessed over a number, not like you're good at video games. I'm not trying to bash achievements or the 360, I own one myself. But is it worth getting all of the achievements, even the ones that are no fun at all to get and require lots of time, just to get a little number up?

The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.
Who really cares about gamerscore?
To be honest, when I play a game on my 360, I love getting achievements and making points.
But I am far from being points addicted... In fact, I only do the achievements that are FUN or challenging enough to engage me in more fun... I think that's what achievements are for, raising replayability and making you play your games in ways your normally wouldn't!

Stuff like you're doing is fine, that's what I think the system was made for. It's just people that go way out of their way to play games / do tasks they may hate just to get gamerscore up that makes no sense to me.
If there are pretty available achievements, like ones that are easy to get, then yeah I get them. The only game where I challenged myself to get achievements was Guitar Hero Aerosmith, and that was because they were easy to get. But nah, my gamerscore is pretty low. However, I would like it if they continue achievements. It's always awesome when you get points for something you did without knowing it :D
Do I actually care about my score? No.
But I do love the idea of achievements it extends the games replay-ability and you can show off tough ones to your friends.
I love the achievement system, its like the game gives you something for doing something extra in the game. Some achievements which you just get for playing arn't that fun but the ones that make you go out your way i love. It gives you a reason to do everything that the game has to offer. Also the way they will integrate them into the new avater system will be cool, we could unlock cool gear and items for our avatar.
"I try to get achievements on games I like, I think it helps extend the experience by giving you additional goals.Couldn't agree with you more, i dont care about my score. I just like getting the achievements. For example, Dead Rising. There were so many neat/interesting achievements that i found myself playing it alot more then i would have if there were no achievements.

Personally, I'm a completest, so sometimes I use the achievements list as a gauge of what other goals I need to reach to get everything in the game. However, there are games, such as Avatar, that do not contain achievements that accurately show what those said goals are and can be gained in less than five minutes. Either way, I usually do try to get all of the achievements in a game so it feels like I actually accomplished everything in the game.

I usually try to get all the hard achievements to show that I'm good. Like beating veteran on Call of Duty 4.
Achievements add a lot to a game's replay value. That's how I feel about them. Would'nt go so far to say that I am an achievement junkie, nor do I get an ego boost by showing everyone my gamerscore (e-penis anyone?).
I just find them to be a clever idea and I see them as a nice challenge.
"epic_pets said:Agreed. lol"It shows how much of a gamer you are."No it doesn't.

My gamerscore is nearly 14,000 now...I think.. >_<
But it's 14,000/39,000 possible points. lol
I love achievements. But i don't care at all about gamerscore. The achievements should be set-up exactly as they are now, with each game having a minimum of 5 and maximum of 50 achievements, but no points of any kind should be attached to the achievement itself. You could still view achievements on every game, and compare achievements with friends. But without the overall gamerscore you don't have to be assaulted by children online for being a "score whore" or having "no life" because you have a high gamerscore. Of course, then rentals of games like Avatar would plummet, and we can't have that now can we?
I agree, I never really like the concept of gamerscore, just too numeric and, flawed/annoying. Love achievements though I think those are a great idea, I loved the old ratchet & clank games I would get all the skill points in the netire game (REALLY hard), so when I heard about achievments for the first time I thought it was an awesome idea, minus the numbers (gamerscore), and im glad PS3 got trophies now too, made me happy thats for sure.

Why it matters to you doesn't make sense either though. It's irrelevant right?
You know what I mean? People that play games just for the points are actually doing something they enjoy. Part of the experience for them is to beat as many games as possible. I don't understand how one person's business even matters to another person. Maybe a good number of gamers come online and just gloat but unless it makes someone jealous it just doesn't matter.
It's not that you don't have a point, but that type of gamer shouldn't be looked down upon either way. If anything they're just supporting the rest of us by spending that much money in the gaming industry as a whole! :)
I don't care about my gamerscore, but I love the achievements themselves and knowing that I have completed the goals.
"i love achievements.Hey I have both of those games finished but didn't use them to "boost" anything. I played TMNT because I've always been a huge fan of the turtles and Avatar....well I used it to win a gamerscore challenge on 360.voice.com and won 2100 microsoft points. :P
it shows how "hardcore" of a gamer you are and people will know if you use gamerscore boosters like TMNT and Avatar
