     Ugh
     Ugh
Does anyone remember this program? It gives you a bunch of discounts on random crap. I actually had a card back in the day when they were free. Now they're apparently charging money to be part of this program. Is that crazy or what? It was completely worthless as far as I ever knew. Not only that, but it took literally months to get my card after signing up. I remember getting mail and being completely surprised that the card actually showed up, it had been so long.

    Here's the official site:  http://www.xboxlivediamond.com/

Does anyone actually have one of these cards still? Or did you get any use out of it when it was free? I sure didn't.

Oh god, I still have one of these somewhere. I used to keep it in my wallet, but I never used it and was never really sure how to. They said you could hand it to the cashier for discounts at certain places, but I always imagined that the person would be super confused and have no idea what Xbox Live Diamond even is.

Ha, yeah I know. I don't think anyone knows what it really is. I should have just cut in line, and if someone questioned me, I'd whip out the card. "It's OK folks, I'm a diamond member".

I think OXM did a story on these awhile ago where they took it to the places where discounts were supposedly offered, and all of the cashiers were extremely confused.

I remember stumbling across this website by accident in the past. Needless to say, if I found someone brandishing an 'Xbox LIVE Diamond' member card, I would be confused as well. I've certainly never found a resource for such a tool - no stores in my town offer discounts to gamers for having a little card. :P

Hypothetically, it could be cool. If they gave discounts at places people actually eat at regularly like Subway, Wendys, and various Pizza places. Perhaps Best Buy discounts?

I remember wanting one when the 360 launched, because it was free, and kinda neat looking. I didn't buy a 360 until around the time the black elite launched though, so I never got one, and that's just fine with me.

Sounds like one of those pathetic hustles busineses like to set up sometimes for the gullible.. 'special' discount clubs and the like. Not all are bad, some really are worth it, but beware. Kind of like earning a discount in Mass effect 2 after a lot of work, and finding those transponders you wanted to get for the Normandy 2 were just about as expensive..or the list was nothing but junk like hot sex magazines with one of those tentacle critters.

that and cambridge speakers used to be good, you will find the discounts are often fallen products  with a name. I remember the first stereo (sound system) I got when I was young was through a special discount, a Marantz, which turned out to be near junk.

In my previous job in a call centre i worked with a firm who offered this kind of service, they purchase the right to target customers of a particular business then charge them crazy amounts of cash for useless services, the reason these services are useless is because every offer in the booklet you get is also available completely free from the internet. the cash charge you pay is simply in exchange for receiving notifications for the "deals".

these companies often make money off you by selling your details to select partners(read Anybody) and by cold calling you from other companies they work with. they work right on the fringe of the law and its really not worth the hassle.
