    Overview

    Based on the historical figure of the same name. Yoshida is a minister representing Tosa to the Bakufu, while he shows loyalty to the government it is in truth just a cover up. In reality, he seeks to change the social class system of Tosa, as he hates how it puts value labels on people. Ryoma was also a victim of the social class system, who lost his parents to Joshi (high-ranked samurai). He desires to raise people like Ryoma into respectable human beings who has the power to change it from within. Therefore he has sought the help of Takechi Hanpeita, whose Tosa Loyalist Party seeks the same thing.

    Trivia

    • Along with his appearance, Yoshida's background and overall role in Ishin is also made to reflect that of his counterpart Shintaro Kazama. All the way down to being a father figure to Ryoma.
