    A worthy expansion...

Age of Mythology: The Titans is a worthy expansion to the original AoM game. It features a new faction, the Atlanteans. The expansion also adds a new campaign that follows in the footsteps of Kastor, son of Arkantos.
For those who are familiar to the original AoM, these new changes should be easy to adapt to.

The Atlantean culture includes new god powers and gods. The only major difference in god powers is that Atlantean god powers can be used more than once, sacrificed at the expense of power. For example, one Atlantean god power is the spider lair trap, which places some traps that coat an area of your choosing. Should your enemies walk through the trap, they are dragged in and killed. These can give the Atlantean faction an advantage, especially in multiplayer games, if used correctly.

There is now also the ability of raising titans, by using resources to build a titan gate. This is avaliable in the multiplayer games, which can give an unfair advantage is used correctly. Titans count as myth units, and have around 4500 health. They can be killed easily by an army of heroes, which is an easy job for the norse faction. The only downside to titans is that they take a long time to raise. You must research the titan gate, place it, then task villagers to build it. When it reaches 100%, your titan arises. The titans are available to each faction.

The multiplayer has not really changed with the expansion, except for the adition of titans. The Atlanteans can be used to an unfair advantage against other factions, but is balanced by a high resource price and lack of numbers.
In my personal experience, you need to know hotkeys and attack plans to use the atlanteans effectively.

AoM: The Titans Expansion is not a necessary addition to enjoy the series, but it is addictive. Your sessions won't last as long as other RTS games in the genre, but they are action packed. The addition of the new campaign does continue the story quite well, execpt for the fact that it is only 12 missions long. I advise gettng the gold eddtion, which is a bargain for your buck.

Many fans want more of the series, and ths expansion will show you why. If you're used to the 'Age' series, you will find this series just as exciting. However, the new additions can feel shallow if you chew through it all quickly. I think this is a great expansion, and recommend it to RTS fans.
