Capcom Details Resident Evil 5 Collector's Edition Package

$90 package to come with a mess of little knick-knacks.

Warning: Africa-shaped piece NOT suitable for KRS-ONE cosplay.
Capcom has posted up some details on the collector's edition items that you'll find in the $89.99 version of Resident Evil 5.

The game and bonus disc will be housed in a Steelbook case, similar to the one used in the Gears of War 2 package, though with a gigantic 5 on it instead of a gun with a chainsaw. It'll also contain a Chris Redfield figure, a patch bearing the BSAA's logo, an Africa-shaped necklace covered in all those silly Kijuju scribblings, and a messenger bag bearing the logo of Tricell, one of the in-game corporations.

The bonus disc will contain the following:

The Making of Resident Evil 5 feature, first shown at the Tokyo Game Show, will be released on the bonus disc for the first time.  A digital art gallery showcasing the game's incredible HD graphics and impressive art style and a Resident Evil Degeneration Trailer will top off the special features making a bonus disc that is a must-have for all Resident Evil devotees.

But wait, there's more! Actually, that's it. Well... there's a manual, too. This package will be available on March 13, right alongside the standard edition, which comes with a disc that plays Resident Evil 5 when you stick it into a video game console. And probably a manual, too.

Looks pretty cool, not much of a RE fan though (not yet perhaps).

Posted by Captain_Fookup

Not bad, but me thinks I shall just buy the Regular addition.

Edited by DukeTogo

Too little for an extra 30 bones.

Posted by daniel_beck_90

I won,t buy it , not only it is really expensive ($90) but also its contents are not interesting at all

Posted by PercyChuggs

10 years ago, I would have to clean myself up after seeing that.

Sold.

What?  No chainsaw?

Edited by pseudomyxoma

As is said in my original blog post I think $90 is a little too steep and the only thing I liked was the steel case

Posted by solidlife

nice might pick this up

Posted by StaticFalconar

I want my resident evil chainsaw damn it.

Posted by Linkyshinks

I will.

Posted by RawShark

That looks good, but it's a bit too much dollaruh. And wut, no chainsaw controller?! Best peripheral last generation.

That's kinda pushing it if you ask me... I'm gonna get the Street Fighter IV CE because I think it does seem worth it, but this one is kind of overkill.

However, that steelbook is enticing, I wish they had done that with SFIV as well. Oh well, the best CE this gen so far has been the North American MGS4 version.

Posted by mac512k

I wonder if Gamestop will still ask if you wan to "Insure" your disc. Even though it comes in a STEEL case?

Posted by John

Sold.

Posted by SBYM

The steel book looks kinda cool (and bad simultaneously). All the other extra stuff? Garbage.

Posted by SmugDarkLoser

Looks lame.
What the heck, why can't they make a cool collector's edition?

Here's how to do it:
Metal Case
Random Shit
Replica of something
(yea, that's what they're missing)

Oh man I love this era of special and collector's editions - companies looking for an additional way of increasing their profit margins.

What better way to appease stockholders and those big into 'value added' by sticking $15 worth of garbage alongside the base game and charging $30 for it? Worked for Halo 3, worked for Grand Theft Auto 4, and Lionhead even managed to sell Fable 2 editions for an extra $10 by including absolutely nothing of interest other than a different case when all was said and done.

Looks pretty cool.

I'll stick with the standard edition, thanks though.

Posted by brukaoru

Depending on the size and quality of the action figure, it may be worth it for that alone, but everything else besides the game case looks rather lame to me. The messenger bag looks very dull and I don't have any interest in the patch or the necklace. Doesn't matter for me anyway, I don't know when I'll be able to find this game used, but as soon as I can I'll get it.

Posted by Jared

I really stand special editions anymore, they all come with nothing of value for the most part and junk you never use. Does anyone really need a storyboard book when they can view them online?

Posted by Wright

gimme that afrika necklace, son. other stuff is TRASH!

Posted by Chytynous

Junk! If fer gonna put out Special Editions of games at least put in something useful. A T-shirt would be a better idea than this useless crap. What am I supposed to do, sew the patch on my jacket and wear the necklace around my neck like a moron? Capcom must think I'm a stupid asshole!

Edited by marcio1986

It includes a manual!
I can't wait!!     -_-'

Posted by keyhunter

Assuming the special edition case doesn't break disks like the GOW2 one, I'll get it.

Posted by spiceninja

I'll more than likely get the Collector's Edition.

Posted by Hector

Ehh I'll pass.

Posted by RHCPfan24

I say no to this now, but I know I am going to get it. *Sigh*

Posted by AndrewB

If I went the route of the collectors edition for every game I've bought, I'd have one huge pile of worthless stuff, and be out hundreds to thousands of dollars more than I already am. Just give me the game at a reasonable price and cut the bull.

Posted by TheGTAvaccine

That messenger bag and necklace are reaaaaaallly gay. Not much of an RE fan either, so I'll go with the regular edition.

Posted by Rieter

just makes me want it more. I know not to expect to much more from this than 4 but im still excited.

Posted by Damonation

Oooooh I'm getting this!

I think the game comes with it too, not sure though

looks cool but i hate the resident evil games

Posted by Endogene

NO chainsaw NO BUY!

Posted by elbow

Everyone is going to slight an knock it but you don't have to get it, there's always the regular edition. Personally I think it sucks, too much stupid crap in it, as seems to be the case with most CE this gen, ie. Fallout 3, Resistance 2, Saints Row 2, GTAIV. However, same goes both ways, like if you really like a series then you wouldn't mind dishing out however much it is because to you it's probably worth it.

Personally I've only bought one CE - if you could call it that - and that's the MGS4 LE which I thought was awesome; I also intend on getting the Street Figher IV CE since I'm a huge SF fan and I like what it has. Whatever floats your boat is what I'm saying.

Posted by JJOR64

Hmm.....  Not sure If I'm going to get this now.

Posted by Afroman269

I'll stick with just the game thank you very much not a bag o' crap. I thought that it would of been obvious to throw in the Re: Degeneration movie in but I guess not.

Posted by lamiafusion

All it needs is a code to redeem your gold dipped rocket launcher....aww Gears

Posted by Dimsey

I'm unsure whether I'll be getting the collectors or not.
Though that Chris Redfield figure would look mighty fine next to my Sgt Matt Baker that I got from the Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway collectors edition...

Posted by EvilTwin

I'm looking forward to the game, but collector's editions don't interest me.

Posted by KnifeySpoony

Um, $90 is way too much, sorry.

Honestly the only way I would spend that much is if everything in the collector's edition was stuff I wanted. The only thing that looks cool to me is the figurine, therefore no buy.

Posted by pause422

Nothing of huge interest there....if it wasn't 30$ more maybe, but for that fuck it.

Dude i was being sarcastic.
How they include a manual that is always included in normal editions as a Collector edition item.

It shows that they feel like this Collerctors Edition doesn't have much to offer.
Posted by zityz

All they needed was the figuring the making of dvd the shit in a steel case and that would have been good, and then charge and extra $10 max, the bag and necklace and patch are stupid.

Posted by MCXCI

That's actually pretty awesome considering how frequently these things ship with an "art book" or cheap little figurine alone.
