Fable III For PC Gets A Date, New DLC Announced

The PC version also gets a "hardcore mode."

Fable III for the PC has been dated: the slightly-less-than-great third title in the Fable franchise will hit the platform May 17, 2011 in the US. This version was once slated to hit on Oct. 26, 2010 alongside the Xbox 360 edition of the game, but it was delayed as Microsoft began focusing on “building experiences optimized” for both platforms.

Perhaps falling under the experience optimization banner are these two key additions to the Games for Windows Live Fable, which the 360 version doesn't have: 3D support powered via NVIDIA and a “hardcore mode” that nebulously adds “a higher level of difficulty.” I wonder if we’ll have to eat meat and tofu to stave off starvation? What about farting to relieve life-threatening gas build-ups? Oh, a man can dream!

== TEASER == This news comes via the recent Microsoft event in San Francisco, where another cool Fable III-related bit of information snuck out. As Major Nelson details on his blog, a second downloadable add-on for the RPG is hitting on March 1. “Traitor’s Keep,” as it’s being called, will offer up several new quests about a mysterious prisoner in three new areas: Ravenscar Keep, Clockwork Island, and the Godwin Estate.

Traitor's Keep will be sold at 560 Microsoft points, and while no release platforms have been mentioned, I imagine both the Xbox 360 and the PC version will get this content.

How about a DLC that adds events to those elusive 100 fucking days in your "year" as ruler?!

I've never played any of the fable titles.  Should I give this one a chance on the PC if I like things like Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls?

Nice, hopefully it's better than the main story.

Also, first.

Finally.  Jeebus F'n Crisco.
