Get Fat This Week

Like Team Fortress 2 with a different camera and more cakes.

Sony has announced release and pricing details for Fat Princess, the Titan Studios-developed, class-based, team-based, and cake-based game for the PlayStation Network. The game will be released this Thursday, July 30. It will cost $14.99. Fat Princess will see a simultaneous release in North America, Europe, and Asia. A Japanese release is also in the works, but will happen at a later date.

Also, this Thursday is the last Thursday in July, which means that Trine should be released on PSN this week, too, right? At least, that's what the last word from the game's publisher said.

Anyone else get the impression that Sony is counter-programming against Microsoft's Summer of Arcade promotion? With last week bringing Shatter and add-ons for Wipeout HD and Killzone 2 and this week bringing Fat Princess and potentially Trine, PSN is most definitely not messing around.

I fucking love PSN. Such a great update last Thursday and I cannot believe this one could potentially be as awesome.

Game overload. I was not expecting this until much later in the summer. It does look like PSN is stepping it up against the Summer of Arcade.

Good thing I have both platforms to take advantage of the competition between MS and Sony.

Saw this on Kotaku and Destructoid an hour or so ago but yay my first PSN purchase incoming. Was thinking of buying the KZ2 maps but ya i'll hold off on that.

Fuck, these downloadable games are going to make me broke. I've spent about 200 quid (think $330) on them in the last month alone and I still have to get this, KZ2 & Gears 2 maps, shatter and shadow complex and much, much more.

Xboz has a 'Summer Of Arcade' branding going on where we knew about what games when and were at E3. Sony just casually sends out press releases and expects everyone to get excited. Yeah woot, Fat Princess, but this is the first time I've heard jack about this game since the beta a couple of months ago. Wheres the hype train at?

QQ. Also, more eyes are going to see it on the front page than in the forums.

Anyway this is awesome but surprising that they weren't able to give a release date sooner. It is just like "Oh yeah, btw, Fat Princess in 3 days"

Sweet I just hope and pray the Online runs smoothly, I dont have much faith in Playstation Network.

If you've opted in to the Sony marketing barrage, you get an email every Friday with a list of what's new and what's coming soon on the store. I've also gotten notifications about the Summer PSN sale via email.

Beyond that, you could be subscribed to Qore, go on Home, have that stupid "Information Widget" on your XMB, or read the Playstation blog.

Sony's got about 100x more reach for PSN marketing than they did when the PS3 launched. What would you rather they did, stuck a big ad on the XMB when you sign in?

Back on topic: I play the FP beta, and it was awesome, so Day 1 for me.

Because they're the staff and you're not....Not everyone looks at the forums. If I hadn't seen this article on the front page, I wouldn't have known about it.

i still want this bad and will buy it, but ill admit my hype for it has died down a lot. that, and i STILL have no clue on what modes it has, how many maps, etc... anyone have any info on this?

Umm, they are...near the bottom. But these are just news stories that are cross-posted to the forum.
