Gran Turismo 5 Creator Outlines Possible Post-Release Updates

Because Gran Turismo 5 needs more content, obviously.

It took six years to get Gran Turismo 5 into people's hands, and the generous amount of content in the game, to some degree, validates the long development cycle. But even after six years, creator Polyphony Digital wasn't able to get all that it wanted into the racer. Studio head honcho Kazunori Yamauchi is using his Twitter account to talk about his ideas for features that might end up in future updates to the game, the first of which he says is scheduled for release at some point this month.

Andriasang has translated a select group of these tweets, some of which are responses to players who are requesting for more features to be put into the game. For example, a user (or users) want YouTube video uploading functionality. Oddly, this was actually in the game at one point, "but it required a lot of time for rendering" because of memory restrictions, so it was cut. Yamauchi says the studio is, however, looking into dropping it back in at some point.

Yamauchi also said that it's possible a "no HUD" option might be added down the road, as well as new Lounge functionality and a credits and experience system for online play. We apparently won't see the latter feature (which happens to be the most exciting of what has been translated) for a while.

Madness? I don't know. It's obvious that Polyphony Digital wanted to put as much as it possibly could into GT5, and it looks like even the cutting room floor stuff is back on the table post-release. As long as the content works, I don't see the harm. Who can argue with more bang for their buck?

This is the internet. Trust me, people will complain about this game no matter what.

I'm not one of those that care about DLC for the game at all but to be able to remove the HUD with the click of a button....they KNEW players wanted it. At least that could've been included.
