Jonathan Blow's Next Game Is...

"An exploration-puzzle game on an uninhabited island."

Braid. You know, in case you forgot.
Braid. You know, in case you forgot.
The official blog kept for Braid has posted an update on the next game coming from Jonathan Blow and Number None. The game is called The Witness, and is billed as "an exploration-puzzle game on an uninhabited island."

Perhaps a bit more telling is this bit from a post last month, when the team started looking for 3D artists:

Work with a small team on a puzzle-exploration game that is philosophical, and quiet, and is being made for reasons other than crass profit motive. Run by the designer/programmer of the critically-acclaimed game Braid, the team is fully-funded and pay is high.

Or perhaps this bit from the 3D Environment Concept Artist job description:

The majority of the portfolio should consist of things absent from the following list: Girls With Big Tits; Barbarians Wielding Axes, Covered in Blood; Aliens; Space Ships; Gangsters Getting Shot in the Face; Orcs; Giant Robots; and, of course, Postapocalyptic Wastelands.

I can only assume that's because the team already has a "Girls With Big Tits" expert on staff.

The Witness is currently planned for release on multiple platforms in late 2011.
