Fable III will be another one of those games you can buy in the shrink-wrap and get free content. Lionhead Studios has announced that each new copy of the RPG will ship with a one-time use voucher that will net connected users five items: a "Raise Dead" potion, a "Slow Time" potion, a "Scot" male or female outfit, a "Highlander Tattoo Set," and a "Red Setter" skin for the dog.
Joystiq thinks that this DLC might have some sort of connection with Fable III's in-game shop, which if you didn't know, will allow people to purchase extra content without having to mess with the Xbox Live Marketplace. At a presentation, Fable creator Peter Molyneux suggested that items like the above, as well as weapons, would be sold at a real cost via this conduit. Hello, micro-transactions and savings (provided these items will be offered.)
Fable III hits on October 26. You can also buy this particular Fable book and receive some free DLC in advance, too, if you're the collector type that is interested in such things.
