Nintendo Unveils Its 3DS handheld

The future of gaming is coming.

Nintendo has shown its 3DS handheld. Turquoise and around the size of a normal DS device, the 3DS will indeed feature 3D without the need for 3D glasses. It also comes equipped with a motion sensor, a digital stick, a traditional d-pad, the normal array of face buttons, and a slider that controls 3D depth.

The bottom screen of the device is a touch panel. Above the top screen is a camera, which is complimented by two more on the back of the device. This point is rather important. As it was revealed during Nintendo's media briefing, the 3DS will be able to take pictures in 3D. Watch out, Cameron.

DS-to-DS connectivity is an even bigger deal in the 3DS. This device will be able to talk to other 3DSs while it's asleep and search for the optional goodies that some studios put into their games if two DS users ever meet. It also scans for Wi-Fi in the same manner.

As for software? Look out for a Kid Icarus game, as well as a Saints Row, a Resident Evil, and even a DJ Hero title. Glamor shots straight from Nintendo are incoming:
