"Keep your phone handy?" Aside from that being an odd way to phrase "check your email," these invitations don't suddenly expire, do they? And if the beta itself hasn't launched yet, why should it matter how quickly you accept the invite? That said, I am hopeful this service turns out to be an OK way to play games, if only to preserve old games' playability in the future.

Any idea if this is a PS4 & Vita only thing, or is it possible that PS3 users would receive the invite?

I wonder if they only send these beta invites to people who have all the marketing spam boxes checked

@driftspace: If I recall it's actually PS3 ONLY right at the start, but will eventually be on all 3.

The emails that have leaked have only listed PS3 right now. The beta might be PS3 only for the time being. Vita support isn't going to be available until sometime after the official launch.

I ain't seen nothin yet.

Are these invites showing up as regular emails or is it something I would have to check on my PS3 console?

Did you happen to get in on this while the code still worked? I managed to get $100 worth, supposedly as I'm still waiting on them to show up in the mail. That server was so hammered though, as I'm sure you can imagine.

@insanegenis: I'm just a Playstation Plus subscriber, so they have my email. I didn't sign up for anything beforehand, they just emailed me.

I'd imagine it's a random drawing of PSN or PS Plus subscribers who have recently used their PS3. I'm a fairly new subscriber (just got my PS3 a couple of months ago), so I was pretty surprised I was picked.
