Retailers Move Alpha Protocol To 2010

There's no official word, but with retailers moving the Alpha Protocol release to next year, it seems likely that we won't see Obsidian's latest anytime soon.

Obviously, Sega just needs time to implement this new box art before the game ships.

Late last week, retailers like GameStop began updating their databases and moving the release date of Obsidian's Alpha Protocol to sometime in 2010. As of this writing, GameStop is listing the game as a June 1, 2010 release. That's... a bit later than its last official release date, which was next week, October 6.

We haven't heard anything official out of Sega on the matter, but I wouldn't be surprised if they issued some kind of release on the topic this week, since the cat's pretty much, like, out of the bag already. Unofficially, of course.

In case you're wondering about the validity of this 6/1 date that GameStop is throwing around, don't take that too seriously. When those guys toss out a release date for a game that's not coming within the next 90 days, it's typically a temporary date... especially when the date they give falls on the first of the month. We'll have to hold tight and see what Sega has to say about the actual date.
