Rumor: Gearbox Software To Finish Duke Nukem Forever

At most they are probably evaluating the code to give an estimate to how long and how much money it would take to finish the game. Switching developers on a project is a pretty hairy situation as its going to take months for them to figure out what the original team was doing in the code, this is one of the things that I believe killed Starcraft: Ghost.

Look at this way: Gearbox has an amazing relationship with Take Two because of Borderlands, so it makes sense for Randy (who worked on Duke 3D at 3D Realms, and is friends with George B) to step in and act as a middle man.

A meteor's going to hit their studio, killing all employees in the process and canceling DNF.

Alien: Colonial marines and that Alien vs Predator game by Rebellion are two different games? Just shows my level of interest in the Aliens/Predator franchise. 
 Also, it seems like Gearbox are going to be developing every shooter under the sun since the success of Borderlands. I don't mind as long as Borderlands 2 turns out to be as good as the first.

So they're finally pulling a Prey and handing off development to people who are actually somewhat competent to crank something out for them.

I'm speechless.

Oh man. I want this game done just so the "what if" talk would end. I'd also like to see it finished by capable hands, not that Gearbox qualifies (badass skags aside).

"clarify" means they're doing a Duke Nukem game, just not Duke Nukem Forever. Probably some other XBLA/PSN game like Manhattan Project 2.

The development continues to last forever.

This has lost it's meaning. 
In the 90's Duke Nukem 3D was very relevant and heads above the other shooters for fun, and content. DNF was really going to be something special.
Now all we would be getting is the title.
Colossal Fail.
Just load up Duke Nukem 3D set it to play like Quake and know, that's the closest you'll get to DNF as it was intended.

It's dead. Did anybody else play the original game for DOS (Or Win 3.1, can't remember which). I remember having tons of fun fighting against Dr. Proton and his robots. 

I was super hyped until I scrolled up again and saw the word 'rumor'.

Man I hope the developers just go "fuck it" and rewrite the engine....again. This also has me wondering how many people out there actually know who Duke Nukem even is, much less if they actually finish the game at some point. This game better be so good that I get constant orgasms while I play through it. Not the violent messy ones mind you, just the small tingly ones.

Anyone else notice that Duke Nukem Forever Abbreviates to DNF (Did Not Finish).

This game has become like Lord Lucan. Nobody knows if its dead or alive. I've followed this game ever since it was announced... i never thought i'd be following it more than a decade later! Someone just kill it already. For the children.

In the mid-90s I was super excited for Prey. When the game finally launched I didn't even finish the demo. I wonder if the same will happen with DNF.

I wonder if it's even fair to say that the game has been in development for over a decade. It's been scrapped and restarted a few times, switched engines, etc. As a concept, Duke was very rooted in the 1990s and is damned near irrelevant today. Now I can't imagine that something with so many man hours poured into it won't eventually see the light of day in one form or another. Still, I'll believe it when I see it. One thing we can all be pretty sure of is that the game will almost certainly not live up to even rock-bottom expectations. Gearbox does good work, but I doubt even they could save this festering turd of a game.

Why can't they just let Duke die?

Dreams can come true, gentlemen.  Don't discount this as rumor.

I'd rather see Duke Nukem as a downloadable class for Borderlands.  The Soldier, the Siren, and the Duke Nukem.

Let's just hope Gearbox will not take FOREVER to finish the game!!!
