Cabals: Card Blitz is a fast-paced deck building card game balancing depth and simplicity. Players can pick up the game in a few minutes and realise after an hour that there is a lot more than they thought. Before they know it, they are engaged in a pretty tight compulsion loop of building decks, bashing opponent's faces in super short battles, crafting new cards and re-tuning decks.
Building skillful decks is the core part of the game and is crucial in Cabals: Card Blitz. Players need to choose the right combination of cards to maximise their abilities and defeat opponents, who all have their strategies. The real draw is to select the opponent, send the deck to battle, sit back and enjoy the action! During battles, players identify different strategies and combos that they can later adopt.
In solo campaigns, players explore the alternate world of Aea, unlock new regions, conquer and defend strongholds. They complete PvE battles, earn resource and often go through the excitement of opening free packs of cards. Battles become progressively tougher, ensuring players always have a challenge to face.
The PvP mode sits right alongside single player and is designed to guarantee instant battles, as players can play against offline rivals. PvP mode is a great place to test out decks, learn advanced strategies, earn gold, and climb the leaderboard.
Here is the twist. In battles, cards are drawn randomly and play themselves, introducing an exciting chance factor into a skill-based game. Battles are fast and satisfying, offering greater rewards for winning streaks. If an attacking player is defeated they can regroup, retune their decks and try again! The game has a relaxing feel but the pressure in battles will bring out the competitive nature in players.
Cabals: Card Blitz boasts a stunning array of gorgeous, hand painted cards to collect, enough to come up with rich and deep strategies, but nothing overwhelming. All cards have abilities, power but also weaknesses, and learning the roles of them is vital to set up the right combination and to kick some ass. Much of the strategy, aside from deck-building, comes from evolving and fusing cards. Players will wield the Anvil to forge identical cards into powerful new versions of themselves, and will later unearth the mystic secrets of card fusion to make spectacular new creatures with mind-blowing abilities. This possibility to upgrade cards bring an interesting wrinkle in the gameplay. After creating new stronger cards, it's time to devise new strategies in the deck editor.
The game has a nice sense of compulsion, always leading to one more battle, one last strategy, one last hope for a lucky draw. It demands time and patience but it gets richer, deeper and more challenging the farther players get into it.
