Gameplay for the title was first leaked online in January 2024 on Twitter.

Former Neversoft/Infinity Ward developer Brian Bright (who worked as Multiplayer lead on the title) first spoke about the game in an interview with whynow Gaming back in January 2023

He later responded to the leaked footage by revealing more details about NX1.

Bright revealed in a Twitter reply to the article that the game would be set around 50 years into the future and would feature low gravity combat, missions on the Moon and would introduce an escort gameplay mode for multiplayer.

The game was in development around 2010/2011 and was using the code from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to build the game.
